uuhhh bleach? I don't know, if I were you I would just use the trusty rubbing alcohol and salt method. Fill the piece with the alcohol and salt and shake it really hard for a few minutes. The alcohol will sterilize it and loosen the gunk, and the salt will knock the gunt off the sides. Try it.
