Topping off is when you add to your nutrient reservoir between full changes. I would suggest if your just starting in hydro to do an easy version of latewoods recipe.

veg: 8ml-8ml-8ml per gallon and 5ml per gallon of liquid karma.

bloom:16ml-8ml-24ml

This will get you amazing results, I'm speaking from experience.
