I'd say it's the light causing the leaves to turn yellow and fall off. A buddy of mine had a couple of plants he was growing in the window. He had them in one window in the morning, then was moving them to a window on the other side of the house for evening sun. Even with moving them, they were still strecthing and the bottom leaves were turning yellow and falling off. He went and bought some lights, problem fixed.
