This might sound stupid... but would it give your plants an extra root boost if you germinated a seed, then put rooting/ cloning gel on the sprout and then planted it? haha

No. It would poison the little plant. Young plants contain everything they need for the first 2-3 weeks of life. Do not give any fertilizers or boosters until the seedling has 4-5 sets of adult leaves.
