After reading several peeps techniques and methods used growing from seed i though this thread may be useful for those who wish to increase chances of sprouting girls

i copied this page from Jorge Cervantes MMJ bible so i hope you can read the attachment...otherwise i'll have to print it out!

Might as well post the entire book stra8!Its awesome info and for me who doesn't like to read much the pics make it all worth it. Awesome post, I'm surprised someone else hadn't post this already!

i got it way too late...should have had it sooner! thanks....i just hope the attachment is large enough to read when folks click on it....i can read it bit i have pretty good eyes still!

i think this info is step 1 to starting a successful grow from seed as i see some folks putting seeds under 24 hours of light in the beginning just from lack of correct info!

so instead of just giving my opinion i figured a copy from the book would best!

i think its one of the best tools you can buy!

Wow, I never knew there was such a book out there!

hi stra8,i agree,i have the bible too,i know some here dont like it but i thought most people had it.like you say very handy tool

maybe a mod could put a sticky on this so it would be on top for all the folks driftin through lookin for seed poppin info!

The article makes sense in many ways, except it says 14 hours for seedlings one place and at least 16 in another Or did I miss something?

Anyways - maybe stra8 (I think you mentioned this in another thread but don't remember which one ) or someone else can comment on this:

So it's commonly stated not to mess around with light cycles because of hermies, stress and slow growth from plants making different hormones etc.. However, people seem to do this a lot in veg. For instance, they'll veg for 4 weeks, then they run out of room and need to sex, flip the lights to 12/12, weed out the males, then back to 18/6 or 24/0.

I'm just curious as to the effects of using 12/12 in different times of veg to see which would be the best way to sex early while still vegging efficiently (fast re-vert to veg, fastest overall growth).

The real question is how successful have people been starting seeds on 12/12 until sexing, then switching to 18/6 etc. until the end of veg? How long did it take for growth to pick up again? Any hermie problems? Does it work as well for sativas as indicas? Things like this, and compared with changing light cycles later in veg of course

Thanks crf and BigTopps...i used this method i learned from a breeder and when i found it in the book it confirmed what i was doing... but i started everything in my flower room...i awlays ran hortilux bulbs which had more blue in them than other hps bulbs and then i would take them up an hour every 3rd to 4th day after 3 weeks(veg side) and the last time i sprouted seeds i got 10/10 females and probably averaged about 80% or better females overall using this method. i have only had 2 herms in my growing career of 6 years and counting. Since i have gotten stable girls from the seeds i ran i have not had to pop any seeds for quite sometime.

BTF~i think the 16 hours was just in seedlings as a max starting light schedule..the female part only said 14hours from what i read..had to read it over after your question not sure about the sativa..indica result but i would think sativa would do best at 12 starting and not going over 16 in veg just in thinking about climate they tend to come from naturally. and eliminating any stresses in schedule as stress creates males

you missed nothing bigtops,its a great book,but there are a few contradictions in there,also ref's to pics not on said page.i guess thats why we're all here too

man, just the info I was looking for, I'm ordering from amazon right now, probably should have gotten a long time ago, I thought I could find most of the information like that on the internet, I've been reading up now for about 6 months and have not come accross this info anywhere. I actually just posted a question "are there things I might have done to influence males over females?", now I know there is! thanks again man excited to get the whole book now~! and your right, the pictures alone almost make it worth it.
