    Question Topping and cloning questions

Ok so i have a plant thats about 4 feet tall and its a little too big to be discrete anymore so what I wanna do is top it and take the top and clone it. I've been flushing it with water for the past couple days and trying to find a good place to top it. I wanna take about 1 foot off at the very most, but I could take only 8" off. My question is, how much is the maximum amount I could take off the plant without stressing it too much?
I think I have a decent homemade cloning vessel but any cloning tips would be helpful.

    Hey,

Dont top the plant in flower, it can hermie.

When you top in veg only cut from the softer nodes. Don't hack into the woody, older nodes. The softer nodes heal much easier. Also don't leave too much hollow shaft remaining for pests.

Normally clones are taken from the new, lower branches. The new growth is light green and soft, this makes it easier to clone as the hormone reacts quicker.

You will be topping and cloning, just be sure you don't try to clone from the older branches. The stronger and more woody they are the lees chance they have of survival.

It is better to take from the lowest branches to clone, they are softer and also, at the same time you will be lolly popping your plant. This promotes growth to the higher areas.

There are plenty of tutorials regarding cloning. It's relatively easy. Be sure you scratch the end of the clone and split the base of the stem before you dip it in Clonex or other hormone.

This will create more surface area for the new root to develop and give a much higher chance of survival. Also trim the leaves as large leaves are not necessary and will be too much for the cutting to supply.

Keep the cutting in a clear propagator so the humidity stays high. They need this so they don't dry out.

Anyway, I'm really tired now. I wanted to reply to you because I saw nobody else wanted to. Look at the tutorials online too.

    Take Care
