Questions...138w CFL rubbermaid grow...flowering
my plant has been in flower(12/12) for about 2 weeks
i am wondering where to find the trichomes
this plant has been grown in soil from seed with fox farm organic mix with perlite and vermicultite 4:1:1
this is not my first time trying at growing
but by far this is my best try
i was thinking of building a dryin rubbermaid box with a fan blowing out attached to a carbon filter
most of my knowledge came from overgrow as well as my inspiration for my grow box
i will be glad to help others with any questions if i can
nice to meet you all

Trichomes will be all over your buds and on the leaves intertwined with the buds. They are quite small, little stalks with balls atop them. It is the color of these little balls that is important when you are nearing harvest time. Here are some closeup pics of trichomes on some plants at 50 days of flowering. They're mostly clear, which means not harvest time yet. Pics were taken with a 30x jewelers' loupe held in front of the lens of a consumer digital camera (Canon A620) set on macro.

trichomes have really started to show them selves in the past week or so
i have the microscope from radioshack everyone talks of to look at my trichomes
yes, sheist thats all one plant
i trained that plant like rocky balboa, have to in order to flower in the little tubs
im thinking of investing in some more grow tubs in order to have a continual grow....seedlings, vegging, flowering
thanks for all the input everyone

Wow man, congrats, thats a beautiful job on that LST. Nice pics too man. Just curious, did you start off with more than 1 plant in that box and hope for female or did you have enough room for more before you started flowering? But yeah man awesome setup, I love how compact it is, I might have to steal your design in the future

updates
some of the stems are turning yellow...wondering if this is from old age or nutrient deficiency...i put one dose of slow release 17-17-17 about 2 weeks ago...the box said one feeding per 4 months
the trichomes are clear to cloudy
i started six more seedlings yesterday that are yet to sprout
already germinated them then put them in mix of 4:1:1
potting soil, perlite, vermicultite
if anyone want to make rubbermaid grow tubs don't go to home depot, lowes has everything ahahahah
only supplies needed from home depot is to make carbon filter
also i will probably make a drying/curing tub with carbon filter
will post pics when made

Your grow is pretty much my inspiration now. Mine's the exact same kind of box, though I didn't know anyone else was doing that. I even have the same fan. Mine's at four nodes, and at five I'm going to start the LST'ing process.

That is some very impressive growing there Bodom Children Of. Now that is someone who has been doing their homework. Keep up the good work!
I suggest you find another space to flower under a 150Whps bulb. I used to grow for a good year with CFL's and I had good results and potent smoke, but what I got that 150W, I tripled my yeilds! In shorter amount of time as well.
Just a suggestion. But keep doing what you're doing because you got a greenthumb alright.

thats a pretty sweet grow man. I definatly like the LST, thats how it should be done. During my grow I had 6 plants and I topped 3 and just left 3 untopped. Then I would kinda tie down each plant differently, try to find the most space efficent. Keep truckin, get some high qual pictures of the nugs.

this is my first full grow using this grow setup trichomes are still clear so a ways to go yet but ill report my yeild here
-somethingfunny : LST is low stress training(i believe thats what it stands for)
you tie/bend the plant horizontally and let the side stalks go up mostly it produces an even canopy of buds of low height my space is pretty small including the huge pot in the rubbermaid tubs...thought i would be able to maybe squeeze two plants in one grow space but this one plant takes up the whole space by itself...i have spend alot of time tying this plant down in order to keep low height...was thinking of switching to a cabinet but ended up tying them down heavilly, might not veg as long before cutting to 12/12 next grow
here are a couple of pics....sorry my camera sucks i dont know how to take high quality close up pics but i tried

Ah ok, thanks for the explanation. So basically it ensures even lighting when you have limited bulbs

Yes, but one is also able to get more budsites from one plant I believe.

hey bodom I have a question for you m8. I am going to make a make shift ventelation system for my closet using cpu fans. My question may be dumb but need advice none the less. I have 4 computer type fans that each have two wires, obviously black and red.... what kind of wiring do I need to hook it up to to plug it in or how do you do it? Does that make sense?
I guess basically I am asking for a step by step on how to take four seperate CPU fans and turn em into vent fans as you have on the top of your box. Thanks so much

all you need to do is take an AC adapter (can be from a variety of things)
next splice the wires together, if the fan doesn't work with the wires hooked up one way try switching the neg & pos
im not sure how many fans one can hook up to an individual ac adapter
i have one 120mm fan to an ac adapter and two 80mm fans to an ac adapter
hope this helps, any more questions just ask
