    Reefer: Medicinal

Please answer honestly... I wont lie, I don't smoke reefer medicinally. I should. It would help me greatly. But it does start to take control after a while, and usually at that point I don't want to stop (this I usually realize during a break like I'm taking this week). But it really helps me sleep. Sounds hokey, but since I was jsut a small child I've had the worst time getting to sleep. Used to lie awake for hours upon hours just waiting for sleep to come, but it would not. Then one day I discovered herb. In my youth and ignorance I saw it as a fun time and good physical sensation. But it didn't suit me as a party "favor"... Mary makes me fairly anti-social (more like content with chillin alone or with a close freind or two)... But I picked up the MJ pipe instantly as a night time freind. Not only did it help me sleep, but it helped chase away the bordom of living in this town (well-to-do suburb where literally everyone goes away to college right out of high school... And I'm 20)...

So yes, I smoke the reefer medicinally, but I cannot honestly say I'm a medicinal user (though I'm definately a credit to stoners, as I'm pursueing a degreee in Mechanica Engineering and doing pretty good so far)... But how about everybody else?

You guessed it, I'm chillin here not smoking (got my reserve stash, but I haven't broke down yet!) unable to sleep...

I am much like you, Buck, like, whenI was a kid, I too had difficulty in sleeping.
My brain would be on fire, thinking about all kinds of stuff - I used to read 4 books a week, just to try to get to sleep.
It was at it's 'worst' when I was about 13 - I read the entire LOTR trilogy, and the Hobbit, in a fortnight!

It also helps with my physical pain - back, neck, and knees and shoulders...

Although I would honestly say that I regard the 'mecidinal' benefits as a handy and welcome 'side-effect', as I do tend to view the herb as a recreational (mixed with psychological relief from my life's angsts) thing.

    So, in summary:
The high comes first, but the mecidinal benefits are really cool

Where do I tick the box ...I suppose "not really, just for fun or whatever"..init?

    Thanks

Well, I checked off the middle one because it is not rare at all for me to smoke simply because my neck is acting up, or because I can't sleep... Though typically thats not why I smoke. I hear you on being in pain though. I got some wicked knees, elbows, shoulders, and now my neck is toasted as well... Though I'm getting my elbows and shoulders back into finally (light push-up type work outs a couple times a week)

    Hi boys and Girls...1st post!

I smoke it mostly for Medicinal use...although I do indulge occasionally

I've suffered from auto-immune disorders for 10yrs now. X-Mass 2003 was a bad year, I was in the hospital for 3 weeks and on all sorts of drugs and steroids. My immune system decided that my red blood cells were the enemy (Autoimmune Hemolitic Anemia), I needed blood transfisions and I almost died.

I use to smoke occasionaly 1-2 time a month but when I got out of the hospital I was depressed cause I use to get sick all the time...but this time almost killed me, so I started smoking 3-4 times a week.

Its been over a year now that I smoke 1-2 joints a day and I've never felt better. Got sick with a cold once last year but thats cause I stoped smoking for 3 weeks.

    Well thats my story.

Like you, the primary reason I smoke is to get high. I love being high. Love it, love it, love it. Yeah, I'm psychologically addicted. So what?

That being said, I do smoke weed when I feel nauseous and it usually helps more than anything else I can think of. I don't use it to get to sleep because I don't like wasting my high being uncoinscious.

The strange thing is the only time I truely enjoy being high for being high (dont get me wrong, it always feels good, but I mean the only time I really appreciate it) is when I'm out in the woods... But I've always felt more alive in the woods anyways, like, I belong there... Yes, I feel more at home outdoors than in my house... I just hope I can get a couple weekends off this summer to go up north

I mainly smoke to get high... sometimes i smoke it just because i wanna smoke some weed. I also smoke for the social benefits.

but when im sick or i cant sleep or im wheezing from asthma, i toke for medical needs. i find that smoking pot during asthma and colds, it relaxes and soothes my lungs, and it also helps cough up that nasty crap that no one wants.

before i started smoking pot i had trouble sleeping all the fucking time and i couldn't concentrate enough to do simple mathematics. when i smoke, my mind works perfectly and i can focus.

woah... crazy shit ijust realized.... i first smoked when i was 8, didn't smoke anymore until i was 10, when i started smoking often. At age 12, i became a pothead. at 14 i realized and started using pot for medicinal reasons, and now at age 16, i have realized its spiritual importance and i now worship a goddess, whom i call mary jane. i wonder what will happen when im 18.

I don't want to come down on anyone for smoking for any reason, but there is tons of research (and not BS gov. propagranda) that shows smoking at an early age can adversely effect mental developement... Its your choice and I condem nobody, but I would urge young smokers to give this fact careful consideration, and draw your own conclusions... I abstained from smoking or drinking (well, for the most part) until I was of decent age (18...) just because I didn't want to risk my brain (which I consider my best asset). Of course, this was my personal choice and I attempt to force it on nobody... I just feel I should mention it
