Do you still have friends from your younger days?

I graduated high school 5 years ago and I've kept 5 good friends since then that I still hang out with.

Obviously I've made new friends at college, work and social events but my childhood friends have gone their own way.

I knew this one guy. We've been friends since we were 6. We were like brothers by the time we were 13. By the time we were 15 he started to hang out with his cousins and I basically only got to see him in school. After high school he spent one semester at the college I went to before he dropped out. I haven't heard anything from him since then. That was 4 and a half years ago.

Man I hate how things changed between me and him.

I've feathered away after high school, but I still keep in touch with a few people that date back to early grade school.

Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly

Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes
    And she's gone

I occasionally bump into a few friends from school but now all my current friends have been met since leaving school, my oldest friend I have had for about 20 years or so.

I graduated high school 30 years ago and still have two close friends from those days. One I've actually known since I was about 18 months old and our parents used to walk together while taking us out in our strollers. We were childhood playmates who grew into adult playmates. The other I've known since I was 14, which is 32 years. I have a few other acquaintances who were school colleagues that I keep up with through my parents, who socialize with their parents. Those are mostly "hearsay" acquaintances instead of friends.

From high school, no, I hated HS. I got kicked out after the 2nd semester after they realized suspensions were giving me more pleasure than harm.

But, I did graduate 2 years ago finally, and no, I don't keep in touch with any of my classmates. It's too bad really because we had a lot of fun. It was HS work, but at age 23 at a college, with a bar, it seemed more like a vacation than work.

My junior high buddies though I keep in touch with one. I still saw other friends from back then, but I never really called them, but this 1 guy I have known since I was about 11. He's a good guy, but he has some problems and our differences kind of clash now, so we talk, not really hang out.

So to answer the question, I guess not really. Too bad really, but when you change your life for the better, friends are one of the first things to go.

We're quite similar you know - i HATED secondry[ high school]school [nothing was relevent to life, and i hated being told what to do by idiots who didnt care about anything] - i was suspended alot of the time and enjoyed it - and just before i was going to be expelled [at about 14] i just quit and never went back. The only things i learnt in school was reading, writing, maths and some science. I taught myself the rest, and the relevent stuff.

I was also one of only 2 or 3 pollitical people in my year, well, people who knew what they was talking about. Things like THAT should be taught. Responicibility, information about mortgages and equity, governemnt set up and LIFE in general.

Maybe if school was relevent to real life i would have stayed.

Ha ha only 10 spelling errors. It's all good, I know what you mean. School is meant to teach you how to do the work that you're given, not necessarily be relevant to everything.

I've been out of high school for 4 years and despite the fact that my hometown is less than an hour away I very rarely see or talk to any of my old friends.

I think it's just part of life, you grow up and people move on in different directions. I just smoke lots of ganj and enjoy the time I've got however possible.

I've got a group of a few friends that I've known since early grade school, one of them even since preschool. My best friend in the world I've known since 2nd grade is moving down to Missouri next week to go to school. I'm gonna be bummed when he goes, he's almost like a brother to me we hang out all the time.

You are still in your younger days.
I graduated "High" School in 1980 and I hated all the people I grew up with.
I do however have one friend that I have been friends with since 1981 but everyone else from my past can bite my shiny metal ass.

Having travelled a lot I haven't really kept up with anyone , I don't ever need people and have often preferred my own company , I suppose I would be seen as a lone wolf.
I mix well with people and find it incredibly easy to make friends but I've always been a little on the edge and to protect others I kept them at a distance.
I have a few very reliable old friends who I know and we consider each other brothers till the end , one is an old Hells Angel from the north of England (where I was born) I've known him over 30 years. Another is a German guy I used to run my coffee shop with when I lived in Holland , I've known him almost 20 years and there's one more "TRUE" friend from back in my schooldays who has stood back to back with me when the it started kicking off.
It's better to have only one extremely good friend than a thousand okay ones.
no matter what the problem is , in 100 years nobody will give a shit !
