So far only my sister and one of my older cousins know. My sister because I tell her everything and my cousin because she smokes too.

Once I'm in college I'm going to tell my mom and tell her it's really not all that bad for you and see how that goes.

But anyway how about you guys? Who knows and why?

My medicinal reason- (A.D.D) I personally love the benefit it because makes me exercise my brain. now I feel more clear minded and I understand that the brain is like a muscle. I've made goal minded choices because of it's ability to eliminate my anxiety, reduce stress and clear my mind so I can take control of how much I really wan't to get out of life. I now no longer drink because I purly enjoy the effect of marijuana and the fact that virtually no side effects even exist.

i guess except like real young kids and faraway relatives.. most everyone. for the most part they're cool with it. i'm (supposedly) an adult though..

well the parents deffinatly know i smoke, my brother knows, an uncle i never see, but my dad told him and now he calls me Tom Petty when i talk to him on the phone. some just the imidiate family and my unlce know.

i can tell no one... it sucks soo bad. Honesty is the best policy in my household too unless it's something they don't approve of like getting your ears pierced, getting tattoos, or SMOKING WEED! I'm 20 years old and a college student but because i still live at home in the summers and they help me out with college i have to be completely silent. I try to stand up for the injustice of the war on drugs when i can especially that on marijuana and make my feelings known about state's rights but even then my mom contests that marijuana is a drug that will lead to worse drugs. She's a school teacher, so the feds and the state have fed her plenty of bullshit to tell the little children over the years But i never smoke in the house or disrespect them by using it... it just sucks that they can't understand that i'm an adult and will make decisions for myself. Oh, and I actually had a cousin that said he'd physically "whoop my ass" if i was smokin "dope"...HA HOPELESS... but keep tokin

My father and only brother know, and my cousins who are my age (about 30). My dad doesn't smoke himself, but he's a supporter of MMJ legislation, and understands that some of us benefit greatly from access to cannabis. After all, he was married for almost 20 years to my mother, who also suffers from severe anxiety, and was never successful, even to this day, in treating it with conventional medications. He knows that I could end up the same way- stressed out and unhappy with my career and life as a result. He respects my decision to stick with weed, after going through therapy and the fun 'let's see if this works' approach that is often taken in prescribing commercial pharmaceuticals. This is just so much simpler, cheaper, and more effective, and after a while, I started feeling that there was a certain indignity involved in biweekly trips to The Couch when I really feel there's nothing 'wrong' with me, per se, other than anxiety, insomnia, and occasional panic attacks. My shrink, grudgingly, agrees. lol!

I don't claim to know the first thing about growing anything; hell, I can't make a Chia pet sprout.

In our immediate and extended family our use is commonly known (with those younger than 50).. We've chosen to be honest with the teenagers in regard to both use and growing. My daughter has started calling me "Bill Nye, The Illegal Science Guy!" in reference to my botanical experiments. As far as my mother (and the older family members) we're taking the path of respect and just don't talk about it, though if asked I'd be honest. Funny how taboo some folks still think weed is but never think of excessive drinking being in the same vein.. This same group also doesn't seem to mind stories of Willie Nelson (75 last week!!) rolling down the road in his tour bus and a cloud of smoke!! So in their mind, it's not so bad unless it's someone close to them.

I'd love to hear how some of the others with older kids (> 14) handle communications on the subject..

noone in my family know i smoke, if they knew I beleive they would disown me and cast me out of the family because they dont want any "drug people" in their family.
My girlfriend knows and it makes her upset, really I dont know what the problem is. Is it that im paying attention to mary more than her? Or is it that shes jealous of another woman? Mary Jane?

I think that its good for your relationship to let them know about this part of your life... especially if you're successful. my mom was (still is) completely against drugs after seeing her brother get addicted to heroin (he's sober now btw). But she sees me being successful and I'm totally open with her. I smoke ganja, no apology needed. Honesty is so good, trust is key in any relationship.
