Good luck smiles on us all at some point.
But sometimes he really smiles and pats us on the back and gives us carte blanche.

the words Tokyo and weed don't go together, expect to pay up to a hundred dollers for a gram of bud and dont expect it to be great and you get caught there.. well lets just hope you dont!
INFO
Since law enforcement is so tight in Tokyo, you should be very careful with street purchases. However, if you are set on making a purchase, try going to SHIBUYA (Tokyo shopping and entertainment district) and talk to the middle-easterns standing by the corner of jewelry shop across SAKURAYA. they got some weed for sure, but quality varies.
When you buy, have a look through fillers can be found in the sacks on occasion.
Marijuana cannot be found anywhere but hash is pretty easy to score.
The main thing is that the police have to ask to search you. If you say no they can't do anything. It's not good to drive because they can stop your car and get your liscense number. walk, take a taxi, or the subway. Don't let them search you or look at your passport. Just say No! and walk away. They might try to strong arm you but do not let them search you. If you are under arrest you will be in handcuffs otherwise walk away.
Cops are really cracking down. Shibuya is still available but is VERY creepy. There was a pretty big bust about a week ago.
another reporter added: "The Japanese law is a lot worse than it is said to be- for one, you are guilty until proven innocent. The number of cops is insane, and they're always looking to bust anyone who looks white (no joke, the police is quite racist.)"

That's why Hawaii is a great vacation spot for Japanese tourists... it's not the beaches... it's the WEED!

For some reason, this post struck me as ironic. Japan doesn't suck, but like it has been said, the location and police enforcement make it hard to obtain quality marijuana like we are fortunate to have in some places. This, mixed with some of the Japanese culture and mindset makes it even harder to find, as they are not open-minded about it. So I bet the guy who found that in his suitcase would probably just return it, with no interest in smoking it. He'd be a fool though.

If I was a tourist there and that happened I would think it was quite the unintentional welcoming gift. Sucks that they have to have their heads so far up there asses as to how they view cannabis though.

I feel sorry for whoever it was if they were flying on to a country with serious penalties for smuggling, all it would take would be one dog (smarter than the one in Japan ) or a simple stop check and you're really screwed.

you make a good point. They put it in their luggage, then they went to another airport, where they probably got screened, and it was found, then they get a smuggling charge, but should they get it in another country cause they are on a trip id smoke as much as i can then ditch it before the return flight, free weed after all, especially if you have to get back through customs it would be impossible.

Jesus Christ, did anybody take note of the price? At their value of 5,000 Euros for 142 grams of cannabis, that's 35 Euros a gram. Converted to the US/Canadian dollar (which are equal right now), that's $54.6 per gram. So unless this weed is due for God's personal stash, I'd have to say they're full of shit.

I that seems to happen whenever any big drug raid happens. In any of those yahoo articles theres always a note saying that at black market prices this bust was worth {insert ridiculous sum of money}. Just cops flexing nuts for dumbasses.

your 100% right matey.
the thing is
1. you could say 'i dont have a clue where it came from' now if they investigated further would the jap government come forward and apologise for the mistake? inconveniece? some sort of reimbursemnet, maybe free flights for the humility?
2. the passengers who had the weed, didnt have a clue they were holding it, now if you dont know your holding something illegal you dont know your doing something wrong so 10/10 you'll get away with it!!! they must have been the coolest smugglers EVER!!
