I have been a toker for an awful long time and sometimes I see something and it just makes me think "That's all we need".
The stories in the papers whenever some pleb decides it would be a good idea to spike grannies brownies make me think it.
People who drive whilst stoned and get caught doing it make me think it.
I'm sure everyone here has thier own little moments of "We're trying to get it legalised so that's all we need". Everytime one of the above happens it takes ten times as much to convince people to set it free..

I'm with you on this being a rant-worthy subject. People who do dumb stuff like delivering pot-laced muffins to teachers at a high school--something that happened in Dallas. Or a couple of teenagers who encouraged their 2- and 4-year-old nephews to smoke weed, which happened in Fort Worth. Doesn't speak well of judicious cannabis sense--nor does it reflect well on Texas. My state is the last place where folks need to do anything to perpetuate negative stereotypes about cannabis. Too many of those negative opinions to overcome here to begin with!

Yes i agree these examples are detrimental to the cannabis cause, however, i still believe the point remains that even without these cases the opposition is so hard headed it makes little difference. My once felt optimism for legalisation has since deceased. I am still criminalised because i consume a substance proven to be safer then alcohol or tobacco. They're only legal to increase government revenue. If the government really cared about its constituents then it would legalize cannabis, creating a safer environment where it could be consumed, where the quality would be monitered juxtaposed with cannabis sprayed with who knows what as well as glass. The point is, they don't care about the will of the people, they only care about their own political agendas. They don't actually philosophize about said issues, they bury their heads and continue the pathetic rhetoric and lies and propaganda screaming over the people's voices with their message of drugs r bad mkay. The point is, they don't care. My only option is to emigrate to the Netherlands where one has more liberty based on values of tolerance for personal non harmful beliefs. The faster i do this, the better for my quality of life and happiness.

I don't claim to know the first thing about growing anything; hell, I can't make a Chia pet sprout.

I really hope no one takes offense to this but a good portion of this board (not the regulars.... typically) has me thinking "Great that's all we need." or "you're exactly the reason people stereotype stoners."

The regulars have their head screwed on straight but the majority that visit this site don't. Although admittingly I've seen less and less stupid shit occuring over the last 6 months on the forums. I'd like to think that was due to our great mods.

Naww I completely agree- I see a lot of shit posted (and usually deleted) that is just outrageous! The need of people to brag about getting soooooo hiiiiiigh and then doing something really stupid just baffles me. If we are trying to promote positive, responsible, decriminalized use, then why continue to associate being sooo hiiigh with also being sooo stoopid?

Anyone see this story about an ID thief having some pot sent to the local mayor's house, supposedly to be picked-up by the thief before mayor got home? Mayor brought the package inside when he got home, I guess. The the police found out about the pot delivery and served a no-knock warrant. They shot both of the mayors dogs in the raid.

While we're venting...I seriously see a problem with what they name some of these strains. With our efforts to appeal to a broader range of people, likely some can be taken-aback by some of the choices when searching for meds...especially for their first exposure to this community.
Would you fill a prescription suppository of Donkey Dick for me...? Oh, and a couple of packs of Blue God...with wings?
Some may see these as doky names that seemed appropriate after a couple of bonghits, but they sure do nothing to mainstream our efforts, and insult the intelligence of those med users that are not amused. You'd think someone would have capitalized on this little fact, and offer a less offensive way to market med seeds and strains to those already fearful of the process.

Lets legitimize this, not keep it in the counter-culture closet.
