...I'm heading to Amsterdam!

Yes boys and girls, after 5 or 6 years of smoking and the last 4 years of wanting to go, I'm making the journey to the 'dam.

I'll be there from 30th November to 2nd December (if anyone'll be there) so not long but it's just a taster. I'm heading there with my missus for the 3 days to see what it's all about then going with my boys in the first part of 2010.

I've done my research on the net (and here obviously) and believe I am prepared to get out what it has to offer!

If you'd like to give any tips then go for it as they're all welcome.

been to the dam a few times but the last time i went was about 20 yrs ago so cant really offer any tips but the mj museum i've heard is good.i can remember that it wasn't cheep for weed and beer and if you travel outside of the dam you can get weed cheeper.
sure you will have a great time 3 sheets. smoke a j for us when you get there

I'd advise you to buy hash there. If you're from the UK a lot of the Cannabis there will be very similar to the stuff that is around here. Some will be stronger, some slightly weaker. Hash on the other hand, as you probably know, is somewhat rare over here, at least in the case of good hash, so I'd advise you to smoke some over there. I've heard great things about Caramello in particular.

Hadn't thought of trying the hash as the stuff I've smoked here isn't that good but I haven't had any for like 3 or 4 years so I shall bear this in mind

I agree that the Dam is an experience not to be missed but I actualy prefer Rotterdam and Den Haag (The Hague) because the prices aren't inflated by tourism and I think the music scene is better in those cities.
I lived in Nederland for 12 years and still have a brother and a lot of friends over there.

my advice:

try as many strains as possible, try some isolated hash = MUST. you wont smoke anything with nearly that much thc any where else... (they make it upto 60%) spend as little time at your place as you can and just tour every coffee shop, also get drunk and smoke. and do mushrooms if they still got them.

Yeah man that sounds like a plan but as I say, looking at the coffee shop menus it looks like the least you can buy is a gram and I last bought an eighth like 6 months ago and it's lasted me, smoking at least twice a week so I can't really get through that much bud.

Also the high lasts ages for me so wouldn't really get the benefit of trying lots of different strains. Looks like I'm gonna have to go back at some point soon

Yeah, as I say I'm a lightweight and only requre like 1 or 2 big hits to get me stoned for a long time. It's pretty cool.

Well I bought the Q 6 months ago and i still have about 3 grams or so left

Tweede Kamer, Dampkring, Bushdocter. Not cheap, nothing is in the centre of Amsterdam, but with the ones above you'll at least get what you pay for. If you have time to take a trip to the Belgian border, Maastricht (2.5 hrs from Amsterdam by car) is a lot cheaper but busy as hell on the weekends with Belgians, French and Germans all stocking up for the week to come.

Leiden is closer and just as cheap, there's also a direct rail link so there's no need to risk driving whilst shitfaced.

Yeah Leiden is a lot closer to Amsterdam, Maastricht is about as far south as you can go and still be in the Netherlands.

I'm only there for 3 days, not going to go out of Amsterdam. When I go back with my mates next year we more than likely will though!

The Zoo! i insist that you visit it. It's some ridiculous sum for entry but if you go a couple of hours before closing then it's half price
