cabinet grow need idea and input

Tv stand grow cab...Idea/brain storming

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

we'll ive been brain storming about idea for my own stealth grow cab for next year, i move out of my parent house and into my own aparentment where i would like to grow my own plants...

ive put alot of thought into this so please only serously remarks, i know i am a poor speller but i am typin this in a rush (like everything i do on the computer) so for this post i apologize about the spellin ill spell check it n junk in the future.

now to my idea......

ok in the summer i am buildint a tv stand for my aparetment i will be attentding college but i HAVE my OWN aparetment OFF school property so i dont want any bad mouth for growin in a public place i am not stupid.....

for the tv stand i would like to have two mini cab (not mini single cab for a signle plant) n in between them will be a mini fridge (this way i have reason for the sound of fans)..... i have no experince with growin indoor n have no idea what type of space these plants need....so my first question is.....wat would your RECOMENDED dimention be for this cab (2 boxs remeber they will be connected in the middle with a table for my tv to sit ontop of)

secondly my main question ether then that is lighting, i wana save as much energry as i can, but at the same time get the most out of it, i was think 4 cfl in each box...

ventelation and a carbon filter is a need i dont want to stink up my aparetment..... so would i have to vent my air out of a window or could i just blow it into my room if i filter it with an activated home made carbon filter........

i will be using 1 compuer fan in each box (so total of 2) for intake i will locate this in the lower left hand cornor of the cab with a slight elbow entring the cab so elemente light escape as best as i can....

my exhaust system will join together from bother cab n enter the carbon filter in a single tube .....one fan in each of the cab to direct air into the tub then one fan ehte the Y joint is to ensure sted flow...

should this be a good ventlation system......

i will light proff this n put reflective sheeting up i just gotta run to work ill post more of my idea up tonight....

thanks for all ur input n sorry if i jump from idea to idea:P

yes the carbon filter will clean the stinky air. You could use cfls for your grow but a hps will get the buds bigger and more dense if you have the ventilation under control

Hey brah,

CFLs are not a horrible choice. They will not provide as much growing power as a HPS or Metal Halide, however it is possible to achieve a good grow with them. Just keeping a watchful eye on the conditions and adujsting the lights daily.

When it comes to fans and ventilation you may need a little more power than the ps2 fans. They will do fine for intake (fresh air) but when it comes to exausting the old stinky air they will not be able to push enough through the filter. Remember once the air hits the filter it loses its velocity.

Interesting side note.....Im a CODA.

Respect.

If you're refering to the ps2 fans, I think you will have more trouble than success "dasiy chaining" your fans. Then again Im no pro with air circulation, if budget is a big issue you may be better off with an inline fan. They can be more noisy but will provide an extra push in your exhaust chain. The best would to be throw down on some of the centriugal fans.

Respect.

Yes, the inline fan can be purchased at a hardware store. It will be in the ducting section, if you are thinking of running a chain of fans I would suggest picking up some of that ducting to do so.

As for the lights that you mentioned, I had no clue what they were. Other than the fact that you said they were mercury vapors. From what I know mercury vapors are not good grow lights, the reason escaping me right. None the less, you can go to the light section at your hardware store and pick up some CFL (Compact Flouresent Lights) in packs for a couple of bucks. As well youcan check out the 2' flourescent tubes to add for side lighting. With the combination of both you will have much healthier plants. You may have to spend a little more, but it may be a little extra you are willing to spend if it will be better overall.

The link to your site was dead, I had no idea where to go.

Respect.

I think the CFLs are going to be your best bet. Here is a link to some useful information on plant lighting Buy grow lights at Plantlighting.com

As for the color this is a cool chart to memorize, or have nearby.

CTT in Kelvin (K)/ Light Color/ Effect/

5000 to 8000/ Deep blue/ Encourages excellent leaf and stem growth.

4000 to 5000 / Light blue/ Encourages good leaf and
stem growth.

4000/ Neutral white/ Promotes normal growth.

3700 to 4000/ Warm neutral/ Promotes rapid growth.

3000 to 37000/ Warmer yellow neutral/ Highly active
photosynthesis for all stages of growth.

1500 to 3000/ Hot orange or red/ Promotes flowering

Stay Fresh.
