Dizzy's gone micro.
I couldn't stop myself... So I did the only thing I could.
I present my Micro Grow.
Simple PC case that is stripped out and suited up. - Reflective aluminum tape.
- 120mm 95 CFM exhaust fan. Has 4 blue LED's, does that count as a CFL/LED grow?

- 2 42 watt 6500 CFL's. Soon to be 4 or 5.
- 2 23 watt 6500 CFL's. Soon to be none.
- Chopped up extension cords.
- Make shift reflector with chicken type wire and reflective tape.
- 4" Aluminum flex duct hooked up the fan and ran outside.
Seems to average 77 to 85 degrees. I'm sure I can get it better if it comes to it.
Plants came from grow partner which came from his friend... Guy planted I think 12 in his yard and then gave up on them, gave them to my buddy. Almost half are very near death, a couple were dead, and I took the 2 healthiest. I'm going to guess they are 2 to 3 weeks old and have been subjected to crap weather, crap dirt (shit had clovers in the cups) and as of 3 or so days ago 12/12 lighting under the 400 HPS. So, I repotted them after I got rid of as much crap cake soil they were in. I did leave enough dirt to keep the root structure stable though.
I will put them in 12/12 as well since I need to keep em very short. I'll be doing a "reverse scrogg" on them. I don't think there is an official name, but I've seen it called that before. Basically you put the screen under the planter and tie the branches down to it, leaving the tops to grow up alone.
Enjoy!

Cool looking box, Dizzy! One suggestion - your connections for the light wires aren't going to do well in a humid environment. Moisture gets inside the wire nuts and the copper wire corrodes. You should either put those connections outside the box or at least move them up higher - closer to the lights and the heat and dryer air.
I can't wait to see how your grow goes!

Thanks PC!
I had wondered about those wires as I was setting it up, no need to argue with the advise. I was also thinking about filling them with Silicon... Eh, after I add the other socket set-up I'll just re route them in the back, I have to work on that bulk head anyway, light keeps wanting to peek out.
Thanks again!

I don't have a clue on the strain, they were all bag seed and I never sampled the smoke, but it supposedly was pretty potent.
Even if it's halfway decent I'll be happy.
Thanks for checking it out!

It is fun! in a novel sort of way.
Everything looks so perfect when the plants are still so young, then you think how big they will get... But I've see it done many other times, and those results, the good ones, showed it can be done with pretty decent success.
It'll be harvest time in another month or so with the other grow, so I'll be in smoke for quite the while, this lil grow will just be for humors sake, but I'll be treating it like the real deal.
I reworked a few things last night to add to the ventilation system, I can have all the bulbs on and the temp never goes above 85 degrees F. I'll post up pics tonight.

Little update.
Made a few changes to the case.
Added grills to the fans.
Another socket & CFL. About 150 to 160 combined CFL watts now.
Made a square duct upfront and attached an 80mm fan that's at an angle to blow on the plants and lights. 5 CFL's definitely bump up temp, in fact I've had to kick on the 6" inline duct fan that I've had inline but never used. The fan is a cheap Suncourt "Inductor", rater at 250 CFM but it has been reduced to a 4" line, still drops the temp an additional 8 degrees F, and the then the PC case can only supply so much intake air without creating serious light issues, there are a few light leaks as it is, nothing that should harm the plants but there is so much light it's making some plastic covers on the exterior glow... that's even with all the tape on the inside. My wife and childrens leave next week for a week, so I'll be fine tuning the whole thing.
OK what's next... Plants are starting to come alive since I've saved them. Clean soil mixture, little bit of nutes and the tops are starting to perk up. The lower leaves on one are purple, I can only attribute this to stress and their old conditions. The green color is ever so slightly starting to come up the stem though, I expect a good recovery.
Added the chicken wire to the sides of the pot with my favorite adhesive, duct tape. And then started a light regime of S&M on the plants.
I think that covers the changes.
Been on 12/12 for the 2nd day. FYI.

they look much better but I would have wated a little longer on the 12-12.
back when I did my pc grow I let the plant get good and bushy with lots of LSTing befor I went to 12-12 light change.
and I also scroged it. and that helped the plant get more bud sites.
I'll try to find a pic if U want.

Heya Hydro, I would like to see that pic.
As for them going in 12/12 so soon, I've seen results on both sides of the fence. I don't mind a small yield if that's the outcome, like I said earlier, my other grow will be complete in about a month, this micro is just something "fun" to do.
But yeah, I'd be interested in your PC pics.

first pic is 2 clones that R some time after the 12-12 light flip.
2ed pic is a few weeks befor the harvest.
pic 3 is most of the harvest and it was not dryed when this pic was taken.
and the last pic is of the other pc grow I had right next to that one.
ok dizzy. I grew these about a year ago. it was a very fun way to grow some great bud.
so I hope UR pc grow grows as nice as mine did.
NOW. In case some one comes in here and trys to say they have seen these pix befor. just so U know I WAS on a NOTHER MJ growing site a while back befor I joind this much better site.
and U may have seen them on that one. and also I was under a nother user name back then.

you've done a lot of ingenious work there ... but, I have to wonder if you have ever considered, you are facing the same jail time and expense, (for a pitifully tiny yield), as if you were growing conventional sized plants ... sorry, but these micro-grows just will never make any sense to me ... the 'results vs penalties' just doesn't add up ... good efforts, though ...
