Hello all.

I recently decided I am going to grow about 2-4 plants in my wardrobe space. It is

H x W x L ( Metres)

1.3 x 0.7 x 0.5

I am unsure as of yet whether to go hydro for my first grow or just normal soil.

Since im new to growing though I was wondering if anyone would have any advice as to what to buy.

I have a budget of about $100-$200 excluding seeds.

I just want help really with what type of lighting to get. Ventilation etc.

Help will be really appreciated.

Btw, I will more than likely be getting a short flowering plant for my first grow. I am liking the idea of Lowryder 2, but I have never tried it. So would rather hear from people on yields and experience with this strain first. If anyone else has any other good short flowering, possibly auto also strains, please refer them also.

I have one problem though. I live in england and the temps arnt all that great. Will the lamp be good enough to provide heat if my wardrobe is well ventilated?

As this is your first grow, I think you should go with soil, it's easier to start like that... 200$ if a small budget, so you should go for a CFL grow.

This is a really small area you should not have too much trouble getting a good ventilation in there, you could go for a bathroom fan (50 CFM) to exhaust the air.
As for the temperatures, try to get you're lights in your growing area and then check the result, once you get the result, running the an a 24/0 in row write it down and then try the 12/12 and also note the temperatures. Then you will see if it's too hot or too cold and you can check the humidity level at the same time.
As for the strain, I can't really give you advise, I still have a lot to learn about this... But you can always do some LST, this will help you not getting a problem with the size of the plant.

Preparation is a good thing to have a good first grow. Just be sure to take some potting soil for the seedling, don't use any pre-fertilized soil... You could use this king of soil later on, when the plant is more mature (4-5 nodes). Hope this help you a bit...

The advice is appreciated. The only thing im wondering about is the CFL's. Will I get the same results as a HPS light or not?

HPS lights are really giving out a lot more lumen per watt... You won't have the same result for sure. That why people are using HPS, there is much more penetration power for these lights, they will pass the 1st leaves to give some light to branch under the tops !

I agree with everything Lucifer said. You might shop around the net because I've seen fairly cheap 150w HID lights with reflector for around $150 or cheaper.

150w HPS shouldn't give you too many heat problems, at least none that a typical box or oscillating fan won't cure.

As far as strains, are you planning on ordering online? Most seed banks have good descriptions of flowing time and whatnot.

I was just wondering one thing. I have seen quite a few good scrog grows so I thought I might try it with lowryder 2 or whatever seed I choose.

Will the scrog work with LR2 though? Has anyone ever tried and had good yields?

Im back again. But im going to grow auto ak47 since its yields seem pretty good. Do you think scrog will work with that? And how many do you think I would fit in there? Im thinking of doing 20L pots, but since my maths aint good atm how many 20l pots would I fit in my space?

Will do a grow log soon if I can just get the final advice.
