I work alot in the hospitality industry, and see alot of coolrooms/walk in fridges and refrigerated boxes for refridgerated vehicles etc. Which all seem to be the ideal thing for an indoor room? there insulated, ventilated, wont let light in or out, strongly re-enforced, perfectly sealed, and walls are flat white and reflective? of course i wouldn't use the actual refridgerated unit only the box. I've been looking at some 2nd hand ones and although being a bit pricey i don't see why there not more oftenly used? they seem like the perfect possibility for climate control etc im looking quite seriously into this idea, so any feedback/critisism(constructive only) would be greatly appriciated,

I think you have good intentions considering the fridge units as a large grow room, but there are some downsides under certain circumstances. If you are a home owner, and have about $50,000 to lay down for its shipping, installation, housing addition, construction, equipment to furnish that kind of space with, then yes that is a great idea.

But if your like most, you know.

Although lets get back to the more interesting question. It is a large sealed box, with temp, and humidity control! That's like half the battle! If you can manage to produce the ideal environment with absolute control, from what i mentioned above including, lighting, water filtration, air pollution. You can have a very sterile, and stable environment for many plants to mature and study. Were talking in terms of science here. This would be great and my argument is if more people could afford it they would do it. If I hit the lottery I would buy me one, and a couple friends. ha ha!

So the pros:

-great environment, air, and ventilation control. (if modified to do so)
-Ability to make the environment as sterile as possible.
-Great security.
-Ability to manage many plants in a very controlled environment


And the cons:

-Expensive
-Expensive
-Expensive
-you can build a bigger space to grow for about the same cost.

All very good points. But i should make it a bit clearer, im just looking at the 3 metre x 3 metre box about 7 foot high and without the refridgeration unit, i've seen secondhand ones in my area for roughly $1000 - $3000 . The one i supplied a picture of is available off ebay for $4000. They also come able to be pulled apart, and can re-assemble it making it a bit easier to get it inside although the idea of a entire room does sound good, i'll also add that to my "things to do when i win the lottery "
