I spent the last 3 days on this forum just reading as much info as i could because i want to start growing my own herb

I plan on growing 2 plants right now of just some basic reg.. Just to start off with... The seeds that I come across i plan on using to plant... So if i have like a month old seed will it grow??? Or should I just buy some seeds?

I plan on growing in my basement... Its kinda dirty and dusty down there and it smells like mold... Is this an ok place seeing that its the only place???

I plan on making a grow box about 5ft high 3ft long and 2ft in width. Will that be enough room for about 2 plants?? Maybe even 4 if i plant to grow more?? What should i make my grow box out of?? Wood?? I also plan to put an intake fan on one of the sides and put the Exhaust fan on the other side of the box higher up..

My main question is light! Will about 4 Compact Flourscent light bulbs be enough for like 2 plants??? What watts should I get??? and Can i use the same light bulbs for both VEG. and FLOWERING stage??

I just thought about how fucking big my grow box is.... To make it real simple i want to grow 2 plants now but in the future maybe like 3...... So how big do think my grow box needs to be to house 3 plants????

it kinda depends on how tall you want to let them grow... i'd say you could fit 4-6 in that space. alot more if you were going to do a SOG grow though.

for your ventaliation, do not put a fan on the in-take, you can just cut a whole for a passive intake and use a fan on the exhaust. You want your cabinet to have slightly negative air pressure, and thats how you accomplish that.

Having an in-take fan will not increase air flow at all (unless your intake was crazy small compared to the exhaust), all having an intake would do is give you equal air pressure.

TJeezy well for 2 or 3 plants i'd research on here about GFL GROW BOXES. im currently working on one and from what i have seen people have good end results with them. check out my grow for a genral idea it might help a bit ( i can do 2 or 3 plants in mine) but any other questions dont be afriad to ask us other fellow growers. Now a question for you. Are you able to take pics of the space you want to place your grow box in? And for the mold i would use some diluted bleach w/ water and wipe down some the basement when you plan on placing your grow box.

You want to make sure the place is dry, and yes you need to get some good seeds, as genetics are very important, and it makes it easier on you in the long run. What I did before starting was planned out the entire grow from beginning to end. Make sure you have everything you need before you begin. There's many a post on how to do this, you should read every one you can get your hands on.

i'd suggest you save a little cash and just go pick up a 400 or 600 watter, a 6" inline fan to cool the lamp, and for a box a large or XL sunhut, darkroom, hydrohut....... whatever you want to call them. but its also good to get at least a few solid "ghetto" grows in b/f you invest your hard earned cash into equipment and call it a full time hobby/job.
