New guy here and just started my seeds about a day and a half ago by soaking them. The seeds that sank after 24 hours I placed on wet paper towel in a warm place. How long till I see sprouts so I can plant ? They are "bag" seeds.

I have not seen any "tap" roots or nothing. Its been 48hrs.

were seeds viable? dark in color and not easily crushable? is paper still moist? we put ours in paper towel and then inside sandwich bag. do not zip sandwich bag closed!! Sandwich bag mainly used to keep humidity up. Dont give up on them yet they just might be stubborn. What is the warm place they are sitting?

If you have problems with paper towel method, you could also use peat pellets that you can get from your local lowes or home depot (if possible). I don't like the paper towel method, as then it has to be replanted before it actually grows and that just makes more work. I'm lazy so, I just prefer the pellets as all you have to do is transfer the pod when the seedling shows it's first leaves. That's just me though! Do experiments with different germination ways and find which works best for you.

does Mother Nature soak her seeds, and put them in a wet paper towel ? ... amazing how dumb ideas spread ('wet paper-towels' originated as a quick, easy seed-viability test, not as a germination method) ... afterwards, the seeds were usually discarded, since the wet environment was a breeding ground for Pythium Wilt ...
to demonstrate to my friend, awhile back, I threw 3 or 4 seeds from his porch ... no soaking, no preparation, hell, I didn't even stick them in the dirt, just tossed them on the ground, and forgot about them ... they all sprouted, and, are as you see them now, still no input from Man ... no paper towels, no fertilizer, no SuperThrive, no 24 hour lighting, no soft music ... what happened ? ... it's called Nature, and it's pattern of propagation ... it doesn't need us, get it ? ... 90% of the problems I see in here, are caused by 'overloving' your plants ... overfed, overwatered, plus weirdass growing 'experiments', it's a wonder they survive at all ... keep it simple, it's a WEED !

Woke up this morning and under the plate, the majority of the seeds had sprouted !!!!!! So we are talking 60 hours. I figure the rest that are viable should be finished by tonight or tommorrow morning. Then in the pots and under 18/6 (Procyon 100) to start vegatative. I eventually would like three to four females to grow out to flower so I am going to veg. grow eight of the best sprouts and then sex them when the time comes and hope for the best.

They don't start vegetative till around 4th to 5th node (I think 5 finger fan leaves). You probably already knew that though!

Also remember, when you flower them they will double to triple the size depending on genetics of course. Some sativas are known to grow 4 to 5 times their size in flower. When will you put them in flower? Any idea?

On another note, if you want to sex them without having to do them all at once, when it starts to branch, take a clone from each plant and sex them under some fluorescents(sp?) Then again maybe you should try that later in the future!

My new grow closet (lotta work went into it). Without the vortex fan on is running a temp of 87 degrees and a hummidity of 24%. If I I turn the vortex fan on (reverse flow/negative pressure) I can get the closet temps down to 80-81 degrees and 28-31% hummidity. I have the option of cutting vent panel holes down into the basement. The cooler basement air could then be drawn by the vortex up thru the closet and out by the vent system into the attic and out. It would be a crap shoot how much lower the temps would be, but I would be getting cooler air from the basement as well as more humid air. Any ideas ???????????
