HELLO, MY FIRST GROW CONCISTS OF 8 SEEDS I ACQUIRED FROM NIRVANA: THE FIRST STRAIN IS MAINLY INDICA CALLED PAPAYA, THE SECOND IS FROM SEEDSMAN AND ITS CALLED JUNGLE WRECK IT IS MOSTLY INDICA ALSO. I STARTED THEM ABOUT 22 DAYS APART.
I DECIDED TO DO THE PAPAYA AT 12/12 AS SOON AS IT WAS 3 WEEKS OF ITS FIRST POKE AT THE WORLD. THE JUNGLE WRECK IS STILL IN PAPER TOWEL GERM. METHOD. I HAVE A 3X3X7 CLOSET WHICH I SEPARATED INTO VEG AND FLOWER. I AM USING A 6" 265 CFM INLINE FAN FOR THE FLOWER AND A 6" OSCILATING FAN TO MOVE THE AIR AROUND, THE VEG ROOM HAS A 4" 80 CFM THAT BRINGS IN AIR FROM A PASSIVE INTAKE AT THE BOTTOM OF MY CLOSET DOOR. ALL THE LIGHTS THAT I AM USING ARE CFL'S. THE FLOWER ROOM HAS 2 42 WATT SPIRAL 2700K AND A T9 (HALO TYPE) 22 WATT 2700K, I THREW IN 2 6500K AT 26 WATT. I STARTED THE PAPAYA IN A SOIL THAT WAS DESCENT NOT TOO CHEAP AND NOT FOX FARM BUT IT HAD SOME OF THE STUFF THAT IS RECOMMENDED BY OTHER GROWERS, LIKE VERMICULITE, PEAT MOSS, SEAWEED AND BARK ALONG WITH SOME VITAMINS OR OTHER.. I HAD TO GET SOME MORE FOR RE POTTING THOSE AND THE OTHER STRAIN SO I WAS ON A MISSION YESTERDAY AND FOUND SOMETHING FROM "COAST OF MAIN" ORGANIC POTTING SOIL WITH LOBSTER SHELL AND OTHER GOODIES, ALSO A FERT. FROM SAME CO.
SORRY FOR THE LONG POST BUT I WOULD LIKE TO PUT IT ALL IN THERE. THE WATER IM USING IS FROM COKE COLA CALLED DASANI. MY WATER IS WAY TOO HIGH IN PH SO I FOUND THAT THE WATER FROM COKE HAS A VERY LOW PH. MY SOIL IS 7 ACCORDING TO MY BURPEE SOIL METER. I HAVE HEARD THEY CAN BE.. MISLEADING? SO I BOUGHT A KIT THAT HAD A PILL AND A VILE IT ALSO SAID MY SOIL IS 7... SO I TESTED MY RUN OFF AND IT LOOKS LIKE ITS AT 6.6? I QUESTION IT BECAUSE THE TEST WATER WAS SORT OF LIGHT BROWN AND MAYBE IT CHANGED THE OUTCOME OF THE COLOR.

so your veg chamber is at the bottom and you are pulling air from the bottom of the closet door... where have you installed the fan that is sucking that air and where is that air going? and I have the same question about your flowering chamber, which I assume is above your veg?

HI MEDUSA, I AM CARRYING THE AIR INTO THE FLOWER CHAMBER, I USE THIS LIKE A CO2 GENERATOR BECAUSE I READ IT IS HEAVIER THAN AIR SO IT MADE SENSE TO ME. THE TEMP IN THE VEG. ROOM IS A CONSISTENT 84 AND THE FLOWER HAS BEEN 80. I AM LETTING THE AIR FROM THE FLOWER ROOM GO INTO THE ATTIC JUST ABOVE MY CLOSET. THE ATTIC IS AT LEAST 25' AT THE HIGHEST POINT WHICH THE VENT IS THE SAME. I AM LOOKING AT DIY CARBON SCRUBBERS, JUST INCASE I CAN SMELL ANYTHING OUTSIDE, BUT I REALLY DOUBT IT SINCE I AM ONLY GROWING 8 PLANTS AND WHO KNOWS HOW MANY OF THOSE WILL TURN OUT TO BE FEMALE. I HOPE THEY ALL ARE.

oh so you are pulling air into your flower chamber from your veg chamber... interesting. and you are exhausting air out your flower space into your attic using a 6" 265 cfm inline fan... did you have to cut a hole in the roof of your closet when you installed the fan? and is the inline fan noisy? I ask these ventilation questions because I am designing a small grow space and trying to determine what kind of fan exhaust fan I need to cool a 100 w HPS, which doesn't get very hot at all. You got it made with that attic over your closet!

YA, I GOT LUCKY WITH THAT SITUATION. I TOOK SOME PICS THIS MORNING OF THE RE ARRANGED CLOSET. I ALSO TOOK OUT THE T9 CAUSE IT WAS ONLY 22 WATTS AND IT JUST DIDN'T FIT RIGHT. I ALSO ADDED FULVIC ACID TODAY TO ALL OF THE PAPAYA PLANTS. OH, AND YES I DID HAVE TO CUT A HOLE INTO THE ATTIC. ITS ALOT EASIER THAN IT SOUNDS. I FIRST POKED A SMAL HOLE WHERE I WANTED THE CENTER OF THE FAN TO BE SO I CAN SEE UP IN THE ATTIC IF THAT WAS GOING TO BE A GOOD LOCATION FOR IT, I DID THIS BEFORE I STARTED CONSTRUCTION. IN THE PICS YOU'LL SEE A BLACK TUBE, THAT IS THE VEG. ROOM GOING INTO THE FLOWER AND THE CEILING FAN IS SORT OF BEHIND AALL OF THE WIRES (LAST PIC)

as far as your problems...

what exactly are you moving from your veg room into flower because it is heavier?

ditch the soil meter and get a freshwater aquarium test kit, or better yet a digital pH meter. 7 is the very edge of the range for soil pH. do the vial and pill pH kit indicate your pH by a color? if so then it is irrelevant for run off pH as the tinge of color skiews your result.

you're going to want to exchange the air in your grow space at least once every 5 mins, preferribly every minute or two. fresh, co2 air in; stale, o2 filled air out.

Well, there I go again, I tend to go over the edge when I miss my lunch and don't have any meds.
