1st Thread, 1st Grow, 1st Lowryder!

Bonjour everyone,

This is gonna be the journal of a newbie.
I'm currently growing my first ever maravingeon! I've been reading and researching on this website for about two months and feel as though i've already grown thanks to you guys.

I've decided to go for the lowryder strain from its size and hardiness. The only experience i've had is growing hemp which went pretty well only i found out after destroying them that i had three males and one female. (not that i give a crap)

I'm growing under a 125watt envirolite in a cabinet. The size of the cabinet is 80cm wide x 45cm depth x 65cm height.

I'm also growing Rainbow Chillis, Cayenne Chillis and Strawberries.

The one tiny problem i'm having is keeping the humidity up. Atm its at 35, is that ok or not?

I'll keep updated, and i'll also show you how my other plants are coping.

I originally put my lowryder outside as i was waiting for my light to come, thats why the first set of leaves are slightly damaged. I'm currently around day 14.

I'm just praying to god that my 1st plant is a female! If its male can i keep the seeds after its times up? and how long will it take for those seeds to be ready for replanting?

Cheeerz!!!

Cool Day 13

Nice fresh new growth...

Looks abit crappy from the stacked pots but i can't figure another way to get the seedlings as close as possible. The light is fixed to the cabinet so i cant move it down.

An easy way to boost humidity is to simply put an open tupperware container full of water near your plants, and keep it full. That's what I do (AC unit sucks all the moisture out of the air), and it seems to help somewhat. It's not as good as a humidifier, of course, but hey, it's easy and cost-effective.

hi orange cloud,

Yeh i haven't got any ventilation system, however there is no backboard on my cabinet, dunno why it just came like that, so i'm gonna leave it like that and keep a window open so the cold air should travel downwards and ventilate it - hopefully.

If not i might buy a small bathroom fan and fix it into the top right and make a hole on the bottom left or something and close the backboard with mylar.

Any other suggestions and ideas on what i could use as ventilation would be great.

Cheerz

Day 16, I think it might be male

I dont think you can see it very easily on this picture but i'm seeing alot of green and no white hairs. I'm thinking its a male because theres two ballish looking things coming out on the beginning of every leaf.

I'm gonna wait a few days longer to see a clearer view of it.

No, those are probably just new growth shoots. Cannabis plants do not mature sexually for 3-4 weeks after sprouting, so unless it's some kind of mutant plant, it should not be exhibiting any signs of its sex just yet.

this is not true with lowryder, unless it is a mutant lowryder. Lowryder will automatically show sex males usually around day 17 and females around day 21 so those might be balls you see

hey lowryder,
to help u out with your ventilation system, I made few pics of my mother plant " facility"... LOL
thats where I keep em'.
my flowering room and seedlings/clones room is located in my closet. I like simple and cheap stuff. so all my grow boxes and growrooms are build from cardboard duck tape LMAO
works perfectly for me. and I always can modify it. cut the hole or make it dissapear LOL
I build 65W (6500K) flood lamp in there. I dont have any mylar left, so I just covered walls with sheets of styrofoam.
in picture #1 u can see how my grow box looks like. made bunch of holes in the back side at the top. so the hot air could get out through em. blue arrows shows how the air moves LOL ( u can see my fan located in the bottom part in pic #2)
if u gonna use same idea don't put it close to the wall, cuz u want your air to get out. I left 1 inch gap.
in pic #2 u can see my little fan I got in wal*mart (FCUK_WAL*MART thou) for $8.00. it's on 24/7 and it keeps bringin' fresh air into grow box and keeps pushing "used" one from the box....
I have 3 mother plants in there right now. we'll see what yield their clone babys gonna bring me. and then I'm gonna get rid of one of them...
I hope u gonna find some useful info here.
ciao.

LOL! Thanks cloud for your info, im just gonna check out your thread. I like your idea it looks pretty awesome considerin you had low budget items.

I'm still looking for the right fan atm. I can't have a fan imbedded into the cabinet though. I need a regular fan, but it needs to be fairly small/low wattage.

Cheers mate

well. few pics from from my closet air system.
fresh air circulation is very important, and even u keep opening the door to your grow room, its not gonna be enough as ssoon its gonna get more bushy...
I have one fan to suck air IN (just regular fan with modified cardboard (!) box, that makes 4 separate air streams). fan is located in the bottom of grow cabinet.
fan for sucking air OUT is window fan. as u can see I am using pipes u can find in ducting/ventilation section if hardware store... fan is located on the top of grow cabinet.
blue arrows marks fresh air. red arrows marks used one...
your grow box is pretty small. U need just fan IN I guess... if I was u I would just take one of your grow box nice doors away and guess what I would put in???
yessir. u right . an ugly peace of cardboard. ha ha. I would make a bigger hole in it an I would connect fan. I would leave few small holes in the top for air out. during flowering u can cover small ones with carbon filter for smell reduction....

Where do i connect/cut adaptor to fan?

ok, i've finally planned out my ventilation system. As i don't want to damage my cabinet by putting holes in it, i plan on using mdf and closing off the back of the cabinet. I will use foil and stick it onto the mdf.
Cool air is going to come in from the bottom left which is where a 3 inch mini box fan will go.
The warm air will rise and exit at the top right hole.

Here are some pictures to show you what i mean.
I have one question.

Where do i cut the adaptor so i can connect the wires with the fan? Just after the cylinder thing or before? Thanks peepawl

Heres what i'm gonna use -

That Intake Outtake system Is very Similar to my Cabinet and it works well I use the same type of Computer Fan. I also have a little Carbon TruAir filer which has a little fan on it. to move air around. Those style comp fans are around 100cfm. The Carboard Box setup is awsome duder... I wish I could do that but I dont have a house so No Basment to hide that kind of setup I had to do somthing A Little more steath for my Downtown Condo Style ap.t.

check it out.

CFL Cab Grow Log... eaact same setup as your cab but 2 parts and diffrent lights.

Yeha forsure Mang... My plants are at week 6 total. day 6 flowering

im noticing that in the flower chamber the side lighting is causing the plants to grow into the light. and keep touching the bulb I might put the [;astic cover back onm to stop the leafs from touching the actual bulb but then i will lose some lummes Id bet.

I should have put my plants into flower earlier cuz they are gonna end up being to big for that space I can already tell. Ohh well Ill figure it out.

What is your soil mix mang? Im thinking of trying coco next time. I can get it easier
