Thread: My 2nd Hide from the parents grow-log! CFLs+bagseed=ChEaP!

sooo i tried about a year ago but i wasnt smart about it...no ventilation, overwatered, used seeds from an ashtray, out of 15seeds, 2 germ'd (lol)....then i had 2 leave 4 vacation so i had 2 abort....that was then, this is now:

**Grow space about 20x20x28in hidden and light proofed, the 3 drawers are just the faces nailed 2gether (pics) then a piece of plywood that i weather stripped is used 2 seal it...the exhaust fan creates a vacuum sealing it just fine.

3 Walmart CFLs : 2 100watt(26watt actual) replacements and 1 120 watt(42 watt actual)

Walmart 5inch desk fan 1 speed: for circulation on 24/7

Lowes "space saving desk fan" : for exhaust...on when lights are on, using twinkie box 2 hid some unwanted light that comes from the exhaust (pics)

Walmart Hum/Temp electronic gauge: lets me see min and max levels also

Walmart cheap timer...set at 18/6 right now

and a 2in intake provided by a PVC pipe 90deg elbow


-So i put like 9 seeds from some mids and 2 seeds from some good bud i just smoked...(i cant believe i found those 2 seeds...was a love/hate moment) i put them in some water until they sank

-the 2 good bud seeds sank overnight so i just through the other ones away

-i put the seeds in a tupperware with a folded wet papertowel and used some plastic wrap 2 create some humidity. i places it on top on my computer moniter, warm and dark

-the taproot came out within a day so i dropped them in some nice new pro-mix from the hardware store. About 1/2 inch into a hole with taproot down...then i gently put dirt over the seed...then watered with about 5oz water each, well until the water dribbled out of the bottom on the cups.

-the cups im using are your standard party cups...leftover from a triple keggar i through...they have about 10 holes in the bottom punctured with a finishing nail. works great

-i put them in soil on 10/6 and they sprouted within a day...i put a piece of plastic wrap on the tops of the cups 2 creat extra humidity, i also let the lights on the regular 18/6 cycle, they sprouted just fine no problems. i named one "Havanna" and one "Lola" since of course they are gonna be females (hope..i really dont have room 4 more plants so i gonna go with my chances and maybe theyll both be female )

-im on day 3 since they sprouted and Havanna seems 2 be moving quicker, i think this is due to Lola seed wasnt completly open when she rose above the soil, so she is a tiny bit behind...that bitch!

-Day 3 and they are both about an inch tall and Havanna is starting her 2nd set of leaves...while Lola still just has 2 leaves.

-Temp currently is 80 with 45% humidity....the temp in my bedroom ranges from 65-75 degrees, sine ohio weather is WHACK!

-I have noticed the growrooms stays between 69 night and 90 day, with a low of 35% humidity and high of 50%

i saw another grow someone did in a dresser by nailing the drawer faces 2gether....so i used that idea....the weatherstripping 2 seal the deal...thats that helps the most

really where i live the likely hood of that ever happening is slim 2 none...i have an apt. but here i have more free room...plus im home a majority of the times due 2 school

ill take my chances lol...last attempt went well...2 bad i had 2 destroy them cuz i went on vacation

nice setup, is the first shelf up layered that way on purpose for like a screen?

halosin8r i just left those "bars" there...adds some strength for the door to lean up against plus like you said they make a perfect perch for a screen for the Scrog method technique.

which im sure ill be forced 2 do considering i dont have much head room 2 work with

lights are off right now, they are about 2 wake up in an 1.5hrs so ill check the temp/humid min and maxs and see whats up

oh and yes that mouse has been with me for sometimes, never had any complaints i still cant believe there are people outthere without scroll wheels still though....crazy!

i think a 70 watt HPS floodlight would do well in there, especially since the temps have dropped to about 35-40 outside...kinda want some input, i cant remember but i think the ballasts make a humming noise...not sure if i like that

also i think i read that about the 2 week mark i can add some nutes?

while I do not condone a minor growing in ones parents home, I must say this is a great little starter setup. I must also say that I am a little jealous; I wish at 16/17 years old I was doing this. Keep up the good work and you'll have a bright future of growing ahead of you.
