What a load of crap
A Black singer was invited to sing the National Anthem somewhere in Denver Colorado.
When it came time to sing it, she pulled a bait and switch and sang the BLACK NATIONAL ANTHEM, WTF !!!!!!!!
Go to hell and burn!

LIFT EV'RY VOICE AND SING
also known as "The Black National Anthem"
by James Weldon Johnson
Lift ev'ry voice and sing,
Till earth and heaven ring.
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise,
High as the list'ning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on till victory is won.
Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chast'ning rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet,
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,
Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.
God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might,
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee,
Shadowed beneath thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land.

Sounded like she was introduced as "Renee Martin", but her name is Renee Marie. Maybe she was pissed off because they didn't get her name right.
Just found her website, where she wrote an explanation:

Well... this american division was foreseen long ago... in the Bible, in the book of Daniel, the king had a dream, and the dream and its interpretation follows:
The dream:
(From Daniel chapter 2):
"31Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.
32This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,
33His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.
34Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
35Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth."
And the interpretation:
"36This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.
37Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.
38And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.
39And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth."
The second kingdom was the Assirian, and the third was Rome.
And now comes the fourth kingdom, that is the USA:
" 40And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.
41And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.
42And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
43And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. "
Its not any news that the USA is a divided kingdom... but now we are really witnessing it...

Somehow, I think it was more of a 'Political Statement!' Just a thought. As our anthem is suppose to represent all people of this nation! It is begining to look like a few have the color of presidential candidate confused as the color of the flag!
I think this gal wasn't very bright. Surely, she had a contract of what she was suppose to be getting paid to sing! In her case, it may just be a business dispute! Who knows, but customs are expected by most!

I agree that it must have been her seemingly creative way of making a political statement. Backfired, though, didn't it?
Illinillinois, I'm thrilled you posted this thread and shared your feelings. I tweaked your title a little so it wasn't quite so edgy toward people who may not share your sympathies about this world and our country being one earth, one people, one purpose. I'm not sure if you're old enough yet to realize this, and in order to do so you may need to have spent some time in parts of America where there still are very strongly divided racial lines. But believe it or not, for many people of color--far far too many, to be honest--we still are two very different cultures--black and non-black. (This is the way they see it, at least. And in their world, it is that way because there are very marked differences in way of life, educ | |
