Hi, I've researched the site thoroughly, and can't seem to find a related example of my situation. I work for a local government in florida and I'm considered "Safety Sensitive" because I go out in the field now and then. I have an annual physical which they give us three days notice for. It includes some serious blood work for heavy metals, etc. (but not drugs in the blood) and a urinalysis, including a urine drug test. It has always fallen on the same month for the last three years, so I knew approximately when it was coming. This time, they sprung it on me 2 months early, just when I'd normally be quitting. Having no choice, I substituted with Quick Fix. It was 96 degrees F so I'm OK with the temperature. My concern is that they'll be looking at my urine closer than during a normal employment drug test. They look at it for other things like diseases, etc. Does anyone have any experience with this? Do you think the Quick Fix will suffice? Thanks for any help you can give. I go in for a follow up tomorrow and I'm slightly freaking. The follow-up is where the doctor informs you of all your results. I took the test 5 days ago.

The only thing that I've had tested on my piss test other than drugs is a sugar test for diabetes.But companies are really getting nosey anymore.From what I've read they're not supposed to be able to test for somethings legally but if you sign a contract granting them the right then you're probably fucked.I would get a copy of the companies employees handbook and see what it says.

I have passed over 25 random quiz's with substitution. My bet is that you will be fine.

Subbing is the way to go I agree but the OP's concern is that will QF pass a medical test in addition to a drug test. Luckily, when the do look at urine, it shouldn't have very much in it. It shouldn't have sugar, it shouldn't have protein, etc. Before we get into whether or not they are testing the sample for more than drugs, could TPTB please post what they did to your urine sample from when you handed them the cup till they sealed the bag? I have a feeling that they are only drug testing the sample and not other testing.

Get a home drug test if you want to know for sure if you can pass a drug test. Drinking lots of water for days and days before the test will not help you get clean quicker. All that water will not make your kidneys work better.

Thanks for the replies. When I came out of the "piss room", she noted the temperature, wrote it on a form, and had me initial next to it on the form (96*F). Then she poured the urine into two smaller containers put caps on them, then sealed each with some kind of tape. She initialed on the tapes and then had me initial on them. That's pretty much it. The fact that they put it into two containers worries me. One for drug test and one for "other"? Don't know.

You only got a drug test, one with a split sample. The "A" sample should have 30 cc's or ml's in it. 15 cc's are used for immunoassay and then if a non negative result is received, the last 15 cc's gets GC/MS. The second vial is the "B" sample, 15 or 30 cc's. If you get a positive and want to pay for a retest, this is what they use. I think it will go straight to GC/MS in the case you want to pay for a retest, which is easier said than done.

Thanks, man! You made me feel a little better. I'll let you know what happened tomorrow. I'm posting my detailed experience in another thread in hopes that it might benefit someone. This site certainly helped me.

i know it might sound stupid but i dont undestand; do they divide the sample so they can conduct both tests if one fails? most of us piss into one cup and they ususally seal it up right there.

I passed!!! Quick Fix saved me my $45,000/year job & my health insurance!! Whew.

Relief is a wonderful feeling!
