I have been reading this board for about 3-4 months now, and have picked up a lot of information, on everything. I am posting now because I have a few questions that I couldn't find answers to.

I have to have an Independent Medical Exam (IME) done for my school because I had tested positive for THC. My positive test was a urine toxicology pre-employment test (NOT observed) I had to have done at the hospital (unkown to me until the day OF). In any case I failed it, and now I have to have this IME done. I may have the appointment next week, in which case, I almost certainly would not have the THC out of my system.

Thus, I figure substituting is the better option. So I am asking, if anyone has worked in a hospital, or better, had an IME done, do you know if these tests are observed (especially since I have tested positive previously)? Or will it be a regular Dr.'s appointment, in which he checks me, and then I give a urine sample? If anyone can shed some light on this, I really appreciate it (I have stopped smoking a couple days ago for all those who are wondering).

First how old are you? Tests can differ depending on your age.

I'm almost 30 right now. How does that matter? Can you tell me?

I'm sorry to mislead you, age does not matter it's just a lot of minors come on here to try to pass school drug tests or drug tests from mom and dad and I just wanted to make sure you were not one of them. I just assumed you were younger because of the mention of testing at school.

No problem. I am a professional student, and I was testing in a hospital where I would be working as a student.

Hard to say if they would observe you, but with a positive test that is definately a red flag for them and I would say their is a good chance you will be observed. All I can say is Good Luck and hope you can pass. Should have quit after the first positive though.

Thanks for the help. It's a private physician's office, so I figure I'll try to schedule the appt. for a week or 2 from now. Hopefully I can be clean by then, w/ dilution, etc. I used to smoke 24/7 for 3 years, but then I quit, and it took me a little over 2 months to get clean. I started smoking again, for about 3 months, daily. Now I've quit, so I'm hoping in the next 2-3 weeks I can get clean with working out, and then putting on fat 2-3 days before the exam. I will be carrying the quickfix w/ me, just in case I'm not observed. Any other help/advice would be much appreciated. Also, I'd like to get some input from FakeBoobsRule, as he seems to be the resident expert here, and I believe he is a physician, so I figure he may have some advice on IME testing.

Not sure if this helps but i just had to take a pre-employment drug screen at a hospital myself. I knew that I would definitely not pass since i had been smoking regularly and i didnt have enough time to get clean, so i substituted with Quick Fix 4.0. Obviously the screen was not observed (which i wasn't sure would be the case prior). Needless to say, i was nervous as hell, but i just got word that i passed with flying colors thanks to the Quick Fix! This was the first drug screen i have ever had to take in my life. Not sure if the fact that you were previously failed will impact whether or not you will be observed, but i would doubt it. I can say with a good deal of confidence that if, in fact, you are able to sub with Quick Fix, you will definitely pass.
