I take suboxone (buprenorphine) as maintenance therapy for an opiate addiction. It has been wonderful at helping me stay clean and my life has turned around. I also smoke, and get a lot of relief from smoking as well. I wouldn't want to give up either medication because they both in combination help me to function in life in a way I never have before. I used to have a prescription when I lived in California, but now I'm in a non-medical-marijuana state and keep my smoking on the down low, even from my doctor. He is a wonderful guy and has helped me so much, but he believes that one drug is the same as any other (he's a recovering addict/alcoholic who subscribes to the 12-step model of treatment). So I've been taking suboxone for 6 months, have not relapsed or even slipped back to opiates, but all of a sudden he wants me to get a 7-panel urine screen. I can make the appointment anywhere I want to go, and I'm thinking about Quest. (any opinions on where to go?)

I fear my doctor will not prescribe the suboxone to me anymore, or see me anymore, if I test positive for marijuana or opiates or anything that's tested for on the 7 panel. This is what he told me when I signed up for treatment, but he's never drug tested me before. I would pass all the parts of the test except marijuana. However, he wrote "buprenorphine" (generic for suboxone) on the order for the urine test. I was planning on substituting (QF), but now I'm afraid I won't test positive for opiates, and he'll know I substituted.

In the past I've used Klear with great results for weed but poor results for opiates. But I think they test for that now, don't they? Are there any labs that do not test for Klear (nitrites)? I recently found something called NuKlear on the web that's supposedly a new adulterant. Anyone know anything about it?

Any advice? I am a heavy, chronic smoker and I need to get the test done before I see my doctor again, one week from today. Thanks.

Clean out your system for MJ keep taking your suboxone and home test yourself. When you come up clean for MJ freeze your urine and submit that for tests...heated to the proper temp of corse. Im in the same boat but for pain meds. From what i read here it can be kept frozen for a year.

man you could get someones piss with opiates that dont smoke mj or mabe ad some opiates to the quick fix but i am not sure how it would work or the amount to ad..

Just take the test and try to talk to your doctor. He shouldnt just up and drop you if your doing good on the program but ive never delt with that but I have and am with something very silmular. My doctor has gotten on to me about it but im so close to being done he has given up. Just be sure to let him know that with out your bud it would be so much harder to get off and you might not be able to work and live your normal life cuz thats the truth at least for me. Keep up the good fight man
