I like the game I suppose. It's not addicting though. I played up to a lvl 45 pally and stopped playing for a few months. Started up a new avatar the last few weeks on the same realm. I'm only getting into it now that I can feed myself mats and money when needed. The biggest issue with the game that makes it easy to get addicted or quit playing in my opinion is..

Group Questing...It's what the uber-nerds are all about. There are places in game that you can only make it through with help of other players. It's fine to run into someone, or wait in a que to do a dungeon, but when you and all your buddies plan on meeting together to tackle some dungeon, then you've been sucked in.

Stay away from group quests and stick to single player missions, or battle fields and you should be fine

yea it can be addicting like my freinds dad for example they got evicted today, however just playing in moderation is fun i take 2 week breaks from it and the social part is fun i think joining a guild and making new freinds now i know people all over the country and they got me into smoking lol

i dunno what that is exactly, but nearly everything in ffxi (aside from lvling up skills like black magic, or healing magic, weapon skill etc) is done in groups... you can't really do shit without a group... i mean you CAN, but you won't ever get anywhere if you stay alone, the game was designed from the begining to be group orintated.... everything from leveling to quests/missions requires groups, and way more likely then not (the only exception is when say you're doing a mission designed for lvl 50's and you're lvl 70+) it tkaes a very specific party (group) set up... more often then not... a tank (ninja, or paladin, for low levels, warrior can subsitute for tank if you have two healers, main or back [white mage is main heal, red mage and summoner is back up healer] healers (as said above, if the tank is warrior, you need atleast a main heal and a back up heal) nuker (black mage) and the rest is filled with DD's (any class can be a DD, but mostly, it refers to every class but white mage, red mage, or paladin....

at level 40-ish parties, redmages become a completely nessicary role (atleast for any decent party) redmage has refresh... which basicly are able to cast a spell on you to recover MP constantly (without 'us' there's more down time since white mages, black mages, paladins, and summoners rely heavily upon mp to do their job, and do it right)



yeah, i got dragged deep into the mmorpg addiction... i agree, that shit is fucking addicting.... (c'mon BF.. you know it is, you just don't wanna admit it lol) i often spent 20+ hours on the game a day... my entire life became dictated by this game.... when i slept, when i was awake.... where i'd go durring the day (including the store to get nessicary items/food) and when i'd go...

the game became my life... all i wanted to do was play all day... and when someone stepped inbetween me and the game, watch the fuck out... i've gotten violent over it before.... flipping the fuck out and destroying anything in my path, screaming at everyone....

i guess in the end, my computer crapping out wa s agood thing... my computer would crap out in 20 mins of being turned on... setting up a party, or basicly anything in the game, can easily take an hour.... figure 20-30 for just filling the party up with the needed classes, and another 20-30 to get where you're going cuz the world is so massively huge... so it ended my ffxi career.... whether i liked it or not... eventually, i begun to see what i'd become... and i made the decision to quit for good, and never pick it up again....

friend hates me for that decision... but oh well.... he does't understand.. i ask him not to talk about it around me.. cuz i still wanna play, i wanna play like fuckign hell... i'm just not letting myself.... him talking about it around me is like smoking crack infront of an addict making the effort to quit...

Yeah, just rolled Horde to play my BE Pally (now level 56) and I love the game. Hella fun.

I have a 70 hunter. WoW isn't that addictive, just play in moderation.

Once I get a job, I'll start playing this game.

I used to be wicked addicted to that back when I first started playing, but I've had to quit multiple times do to life/money complications. I will so though that it can be a very enjoyable game, just be careful not to let yourself become addicted and it won't interfere with anything.

Wow guys I am honestly REALLY suprised about the addictivness of this game! I mean Im 20 and used to play Socom and that shit made me play like 8 hours a day tops but DAMN 2 or 3 days straight you guys need to get some good friends and enjoy your lifes! I would never thought I would see the day when a WIDEO GAME is more deadly than a Class A Drug here in the states. Like do some people just have no jobs/family/g/f/friends and just live their lifes around playing a comp game?! I mean every person is entitled to play their hand that they have been dealt anyway they want, but still when you look back on your life and realize that a game took up alot of your life how depressing must that feel?! I'm like "Scarred" to play this game like the same way I feel about coke/meth/heroin.

I used to be addicted to WoW, wake up go to school, then play WoW all day forgetting about anything else, sometimes food, then go to sleep around 3 am, and wake up again at 6am to repeat the process.... I didnt see anything wrong with it at the time but holy shit... now I do. Anyways when I get extremely bored I still hop on to go pvp and help people out, but that is like once or twice a week for maybe 2 hours.

It's fun and well thought out MMO but it's only as addicting as you let it be.

I didn't start playing until last October so i felt really behind.

I've played the game about 3 years now. I'm not nearly as addicted as I once was. I think the people who get addicted to it have addicted personalities.. like people have said, if you play in moderation, it's okay.
I've quit a few times, when I was in end game raiding guilds, and they made it out to be "You HAVE to be here at certain times, you HAVE to do this, you HAVE to do that" - I didn't like feeling like it was a second job, so I've taken a few breaks.
I have a 70 Mage and 70 Lock, a 60 hunter. I love my Mage the most, but that's because I've put the most work into her for raiding and pvp purposes.

Raiding/Arena is where it becomes "Addicting" I use to play WoW, since release, I quit really early on, and started again with raiding MC-AQ40. When i started again, i played more serious. I play/played Orc Warrior. In BC I raided Karazhan - BT (killed Illidan) I stopped raiding around febuary, and stopped playing in march. The game is not necessarily addicting in my oppinion, i stopped playing it very easily, just did'nt play was boring and not fun anymore, but if you don't have anything better to do than play WoW then it can be "Addicting". With raiding its more of I don't want to let these people down, then addicting. There's 25 people depending on you to show up and if you don't then these people who set shit aside in their day to take time to play the game just wasted their time, because some one didn't log on etc. In my opinion its too much stress, someone said earlier its like a second job. Which it pretty much is if you play "hardcore." Which it shouldn't, your playing the game to have fun. If you are to play WoW i wouldn't suggest playing "hardcore", just play it to have fun, that's what I'm gonna do when Wrath of the Lich King comes out, sick of playing that shit from like 8pm-12pm, becomes very repetitive. You have the most fun with WoW in a tight knit "guild" with like 20 people or so, cause you actual get to know the people and fun just fuckin around.

And Weed+WoW is UNBELIEVABLY fun... Get so fuckin zoned your like a Machine, can like predict shit thats gonna happen...
