8-bit Nintendo Goodness (That You Can Enjoy In Your Browser)

After seeing that Commodore 64 thread, I figured I would share a site that I am familiar with.

nintendo8.com - play Nintendo 8-bit games online (no download required)
That is a Top 10 list of some of the best games for the NES, and you can play them right in your browser! There are more if you click 'Show me more games!' at the bottom of the list.

Enjoy.

Psyche, more like...

Mac, Windows' more adept and functional little brother

To each his own man, I hate confrontation

No confrontation here.

I've never used a Mac, and probably never will.

I've been with Windows since Windows 95.

Like I said, to each his own.

I'm probably Mac biased because I've used both windows and Mac since I was a wee little fucker and I've always had problems with windows...

no issues.

Say, you play COD 4?

i just wanted to thank all the people in my life for this awesome moment... the guy who first invented Nintendo, you are a cool asian man.

also, the person who put together that website that im about to go to so i can play these games... im so glad u took that useless computer class in college so you know how to work your magic so i can go play some 8-bit... you're one of those losers in high school that grows up to become a doctor, so when some sick, popular person comes into your office you can be like "well well well, look who finally came crawling back?" while menacingly gripping your stethescope, and then the sick popular person will propably just be like "oh man you're still weird, you were always sticking something in your ears, i guess now you just get paid for it", so see? things really haven't changed for you. Wait.. what was i talking about?

lastly, i'd like to thank the person who started this thread for making my day better. i'm pretty high as the sky, and i wanted to play some 8-bit, so i said to myself... "where can you get some delicious digital original Nintendo around here?... oh yea!!"

i swear that's how it went

so to wrap this up tighter than a joint in your dad's ass, it's gonna be a good 9am this morning.

bye!

edit (7 minutes later): you know, i've learned something today. it's really, really hard to play original Mario without the NES controller. i mean, i should be controlling Mario's direction with my left hand, not my right. And Z&X are the jump keys? With my left hand? Very awesome how our brains get used to the little things like holding a controller. Good scientific experiment, all psycholomagical.

Lol took me a minute to figure out controls too.

However if I want some REAL 8-bit goodness, I still have a NES and some games.

Sad part is, it won't work on any of my TV's. LOL!

Something that works like a charm for me.
I just downloades an NES emulator, and then downloaded oh say infinity NES roms to play. I have a microsoft xbox controller (2) that has a usb cord with it that I plug into my laptop. It has a reciever on the other end, I just sit back and play whatever I want! Works like a charm, and the emulators I use allow me to go in and set the controllers up so they work perfect!

How does that site compare to the ROMs?

I used to rock out to NES emulators years ago, but several games didn't work, were totally scrambled, or worked fine and then froze late into the game...

I have always used rom_world.com it works really well, multiple emulators, many many roms. I have gotten some roms from other sites. The trick is to download the right roms. So far I have been able to use all the roms that I wanted, it took several different trial and errors with some. But you will get the hang of it. Avoid anything with a (J) at the end, this is the japeneese version, (E) for European, (U) for United States.
I haven't tried any of the other emulators just the NES ones, off the top of my head, there were a couple that sucked, and a couple that rocked!

Cool, wayyyyyy back then the only emulator I knew of was NESticle, and the roms were all the same from every site.... with a few alternate versions for some. Can't remember any other NES emulators I've tried.... I'll probably get back into a bit of gaming pretty soon to see how things have developed since then.

I was afraid there would be fewer sources for this stuff now... it's so good to see things preserved on the internet. Like how I was afraid I'd never find a good place to get MAME roms. ahhh I'm getting old and thought I'd never play games again WTF was I thinking?!. Thanks for the url of that site!
