A zombie shooter that didn't really float my boat. I've only played the demo but it was enough for me to decide I won't be buying the full game until the price drops to at least half of what it will be released at.

man i bought this the other day, its freaking awesome. Did you play the demo online or by yourself? It's WAYYY more fun when you're playing with other people. I could see why you might not want to buy it if you played with the bots but when you're with friends or other people online, it really is amazing.

It's a pretty cool game, certainly worth the money if doing some ping free LANage is your your thing.
Runs good, the animations and battle scenarios are terrific, but still there is a part of me that wants to beat a Valve employee to death over shipping a game meant for Coop with broken networking. As of this posting, the game can ONLY be run on a LAN via a dedicated server. Hosting the game on the best computer present was broken in the demo and is still broken. Also, I think they kinda fuct up with the game's reliance on Steam. No access to the internet = no loading the game.

What happens if you don't have a dedicated box? What happens if you don't have internet access at the LAN location?

Really disappointed in Valve over this, and I won't be buying any more of their products until they get their collective shit together.

that sucks mate, I'm playing it on xbox 360 so i don't have any of those problems. The last game i played on steam was half life 2 and day of defeat source but I never had any problems with finding/hosting games.

definitely. This game is a freaking blast man. It's great fun and it has great replay value. The only downfall is that there are only two main modes of gaming. You can either play the campaign missions with other people or bots and the only other mode is versus where you can play as either a survivor or an infected. Playing as the infected is pretty fun though, you get to be different zombies like the hunter which can pounce and claw people to death, or the tank which is the huge main boss in the game, or a smoker which can hide far away and his tongue will shoot out and drag the enemy back. Then there's the boomer which is this huge slow moving zombie that throws up on people. the vomit attracts huge amounts of zombies. If you're the boomer and someone shoots you, you explode vomit all over everyone else. Its so much fun man, you'll love it if you like zombie stuff.

picked up this game 2 days ago, and I'm addicted. not a zombie thriller, but definitely a zombie killer. The only decent way to play this game is online, and either play with friends or pray for a decent party. There's nothing like mindlessly slaughtering hordes of undead, unless you happen to wind up with idiots on your team.

only downside is the fact that there are only 4 levels, a weak amount of weapons, and there's no customizable characters. Kinda feels like valve skimped on this game...

agreed. This feels like only a partial game, and I feel like they're going to charge me for DLC in order to really get a full gaming experience. What's happening to the world? First Soulja Boy gets away with recording nothing but a hook, and now VALVE charges full price for glorified online extras. If the game wasn't so damn entertaining, I might be outraged.

they do need more guns. Two types plus a pistol is not enough. I hope they have a free DLC like 3 more weapons and two new special zombies. Maybe even do a mall campaign. I know dead rising did it but wasn't that suppose to be more on the humorous side? I've never played it so I dont know, but I bet valve could make it scary as hell. That would be amazing.

I read that they are coming out with an update for the pc version and they're adding a new campaign based off shaun of the dead. Plus, you'll be able to play as 4 characters from the movie. No clue if its coming to xbox. I'd definitely be down for something like a Romero movie, that would be awesome.

This game makes me feel like I'm playing in 28 Days later. I love the lightning fast "rabid" zombies like those found here and in the 28 series of movies.


Very atmoshpheric and creepy. It's a very satisfying game. I probably still enjoy Team Fortress 2 more, but L4D is a winner in my book.

Hopefully we'll be seeing some DLC fairly soon for this game. Perhaps by Spring?

I'm hoping that one of the new levels will be the classic Mall Scenario. Who wouldn't want to blast their way through a shopping mall filled with the undead ala Dawn of the Dead and Dead Rising. Also, I hope they add a few new weapons, considering the current selection remains rather sparse. Finally, there's talk of an film editor that would allow players to capture and edit in-game action into their very own zombie film. We'll just have to wait and see how far they go with the DLC.

I've never played left4dead although it does look pretty decent. Ever since dead rising though i've never been into zombie games that much.
