Shov's Christmas Grow
Yah, Christmas is coming, so I decided to start a grow that will be curing in time for the holidays.
This morning I mixed a batch of soil using promix potting soil, vermiculite, perlite, and worm castings. I filled 24 or so two cup pots, topped off with plant starter mix and planted some Bubblegum as well as some seeds from my last grow which were bagseed Y, bagseed Z and Foxy Seeds Afghani x BOG Medley. The X and Y plants were polinated with the Foxy Seed plants. They are put under four T-5 54W lamps for now.
I'll put up photos as soon as things sprout.

A couple of other T-5 grows
D Rock sez..."Boy these T5's are gaining in popularity. Good to see. Cant wait to see pics of this grow sounds interesting."
I posted the first log in this "new" forum last year and followed up with another. Both use the T-5 HO lamps. They were not the best grows efficiency wise but I found it acceptable, for sure! Really not bad at all!

Neat, Shov- do I recall correctly that your last grow was harvested on the 4th of July? Or am I hallucinating your holiday grow timing?

stinky: I think shov is a fellow canuck for some reason. I could definitely be mistaken. An early July harvest makes sense for both canucks and 'mericans anyway though.
shov: hmmm. anything sprout yet?

No photos yet, Sorry
I do have about 40-50 sprouts in 20 pots and I've already picked out a dozen or two weeklings. (as usual, look at my other logs in the first weeks. Must be because I come from a very large family) <G>
I'm taking good care of them and I will photo them as soon as I thin them into one per pot.

Culling the herd eh? What's the herd usually end up being after the weaklings are gone from 40-50 seeds?

It was probably more like 80 seeds. But I will cull down to a dozen and then hope I have room for them all until they show sex. I hope for six to eight plants to mature.

Wow....that's some heavy duty culling there. What are some of your criteria for seedlings....how do you decide which ones to keep etc....Obviously the heartier ones but what else do you base your decision on?

I know Shov's not a 'Nuck... His local climate however means he might as well be.

See my post in Basic Growing "What ate my Bubblegum..."
I repotted 18 plants. Sorry to say, I only have one good bubblegum right now.
Criteria...hmmm, I know what that is <G> I save the strong, kill the weak and infirmed! <G>. Well, the BG seeds are commercial seed stock, so I plant and cull less of them. The other seeds I have plenty to play with.
Sorry, no pics yet. I'm very busy, going out of town and coming back with my daughter for a few days visit.
Later

OK, sum pics guys
Photos aren't the best... I think the soil is too hot. I used last grow's soil and it had lots of flower nutes. I did thin it out with new vermiculite, perlite, worm castings and early potting soil. The plants that are making it now are tough. Pretty much got each variety covered pretty well though. I'm sure it's gonna fire up nicely soon. <G>
