Fourth of July Crop

I like to plan crops' harvests and proving around traditional party times. So, I plan to get going on a new grow in time for USA ndependance Day, Canada Day Holidays and will log all the good stuff, including pics here.

The first steps will be to...
(1) clean the grow area
(2) decide on seeds ( I'll have to get busy and finish smoking and proving last grow's products)
(3) Germinate some seeds.

Sorry I've not been on line.
I've busy with personal and family medical crisis, some extended out of town visits. As soon as I get my grow area ready I'll try and get around to enjoying some of the wonderful threads that are no doubt on these here pages.

Let's see the "seed packet"

He's a pic of the plant from which these seeds are derived.
The strain in the photo is the original New England Bubblegum crossed with Foxy Seeds Afghani Dream x BOG Medley.
Notice that the bud is very crystalized. The buzz is remarkable!
This plant was germinated from a hermied Afghani type crossed with the same Foxy Seeds Afghani Dream x BOG Medley.
Confused?

bbg dry3small.JPG

I've got 13 such seeds in wet papertowel on top of the fridge in a metal tin. I have a dozen small pots ready to fill with fresh potting soil mixture.

That nug shot looks good- did you notice how much of the purple color remained on that purple pheno after drying and curing? I'm curious!
Anyway I'm watching with interest

Stinky,
The colors do change, so I'm lucky that I labeled each plant's dried/cured buds. The colors are lighter. Right now I'm smoking that BBG like in that picture. When I get into my stash sometime I'll photograph the finished bud next to the growing buds on the old XMAS Grow.

Week One - Seeds are germinated

I put the twelve sprouted seeds into my fresh potting soil mix. There are a dozen pots aprox 1 qt each. I put six pots each in two "window" boxes to help with moving them around. The seedlings are 2" tall. They are lit buy a single two lamp, four foot T-8 6500K. The lamp to leaf distance is about 3". The ambient temperature is 78-82ºf.

First Pic

The seedlings look really good. Kind of tough to get a nice pic overhead. So, I raised up the light fixture and took a picture from the side.

Thanks Hennessy. Fem seeds? I do believe so. Time will tell.

I only have room to flower 6 plants, 8 at the most. So I will keep the best six indoors and try and find some spots for the leftovers, likely outdoors as I don't have any friends who grow who live near me.

Second Week Seedlings

They have been looking pretty healthy. They have been out of the soil one week, so I watered with a little SuperThrive.

Sativa - Si! Indica - Yah!

Well, the idea of buying designer seeds from Europe is pretty different to me. I've grown what I could get seeds for, and lately I've been able to get a couplefew clones from some growers.

I've missed smoking the good central/South American Sativas. All there is for commercial is local/Canadian hydro which are mostly indica.

I've been very pleased with the herb I've been growing outdoors and lately I've been also growing a little indoors too. Maybe I'll be able to score a decent sativa or a hybrid that has what I like (yield + buzz + taste + quick finishing) and try that indoors.

I think, Power Plant is what you are looking for.... I have grown it outdoors and it became one of my favorites...it has a big yield, nice high, nice taste, easy to grow, but it is not the fastest finisher...i have read mostly good things about it here on the boards....and a few seeds don't cost that much...

Oh ya, the Root Stimulator!

Oops, forgot to mention that I also put some Bonide Root Stimulator (3-10-3) in that last watering.

Today I set up the four lamp fixture w/ F4T5HO Cool White lamps.
Now I should be all set where I am until week four or later when I'll run out of space and relocate to a larger area.

I have heard a few different opinions on when you should use root stimulator...

Do you use it as soon as the seedlings start to shoot up?

I've used the root stimulator to water in a plant when you transplant into the garden or transplant indoors.

The earliest I've used full strength organic fertilizer is at three weeks.
I usually use a 25-50% application of organic ferts at two weeks.
This time I thought that I'd try Superthrive (vitamins-mineral suppliment) and a light dosage of the root stimulator. Definately an experiment, and I sure hope I don't fuck up.

I ordered a new 400W HPS system today. My previous grow logs have used T5HO and T8 flourescents. I figure I'll continue to use the four 4' lamp fixture with T5HO 3000K lamps for supplimental lighting during the flowering stage.

Yup, more better light, more, better yeild.

I checked the soil PH yesterday and it was slightly acidic at 6.0. Pretty good, yes?

As the temperature with the six flourescent lamps went to 82-84º I started up the fan, which will also strengthen the stems.

I gave the plants their first dose of BC Tech nutes today (Boost, Grow, Red Thrive Alive).

I've got to gather up some medium sized pots. I plan on transplanting twice, first into the medium pots and 1-2 weeks before 12-12 I'll transplant into the large pots (some 3 gal, and some 5 or 6 gal).
