Bubblelicious and Blueberry first grow

Quick summary - so I dont ramble too much.

Ordered 10 bubblelicious seeds from Nirvana - and 1 (haha) feminised blueberry seed. Bubblelicious seeds germinated on 3/20, and the blueberry germed 3/29. Using scotts seed starter mix in small pots for now, the Blueberry is in the party cup.

I'm gonna try to add some pics, we'll see if they show up.

Do you guys notice a weird greyish color or am I just freaking out???

I should add that I'm using a T5 setup with 10,000 lumens, and its about 3-4" from the plants. Temps are about 82-85 degrees, and I'm on 24/0. I'll post some pics of my setup here in a couple minutes.

Try to get your temps down about 5 degrees if you can. That greying might be strain related. The plants in the orange pots look great so far. Nice carpet. I had the same stuff in my living room, but in 'harvest gold'. Mmmm 70s textured short shag... mmm

Here's my growbox. Its kinda ghetto for now, I've already dumped a lot of money into it, and I'm kinda tapped out for the moment.

I have panda film or whatever u call it lining the inside of the box. The larger fan is my exhaust and the smaller fan mounted outside the box is my intake. And yes, there's only 3 screws holding it in instead of 4. I also have that little metal fan that I bought from target for 7 bucks thats blowing on the plants. The back of that fan feels warm though, and I'm suspicious that its just adding more heat. Any thoughts?

And also - my girlfriend and I still have some of our clothes in the closet, so dont mind the high heels and pink robes - I swear I'm not a cross-dresser

Yeah, I'm brainstorming on the temps. During the day though, when I run my A/C unit that is in the living room and leave the closet doors open the temps stay below 82. At night though it seems to be warmer because I can't really justify running my A/C 24/7.

Yeah, gotta love the carpet. My apartment is all about the 70's. Thats LA county for ya, everything is so old!

is it possible to put a fan as big as your exhaust or slightly smaller?(flowing as many cfm's as your exhaust fan... Not anything higher though).

You could probably lower your temps if you equalized the air flow in this particular situation since your grow space is kind of small.

Good luck.

Maybe, I'm not sure though. Do you think adding a passive intake would help?

Thanks for stoppin by

well you already have an intake.. I think adding another fan or equalizing the air flow would help.

How big is the exhaust fan? Do you have a pic of it?

pic one is the exhaust

pic two is the intake, which is mounted outside the box.

pic three is a view of the intake fan from outside the box.

Exhaust fan measures 4 1/2", intake fan is 3 1/4"

not sure of the cfm rating on the exhaust

intake is rated at 31CFM.

The 70's were awesome. I wish I hadn't of been zero years old and caught more than the last few months tail end of it.. lol

I'm all about 70's stuff too.. really all retro stuff.

That looks like a 120mm computer fan. Probably anywhere from 91-141cfm.

Look up Honeywell Turbo fan. I'd say it's about 9" in diameter but would probably work well in your room for both intake/exhaust.. and fully adjustable.

If you can find a smaller similar fan then those would probably be better for your particular space. Something more like 7" or so.

blah. thanks alot for your advice but I really dont think I'm ready to modify the box that much, again. I think I'm going to order another intake fan, same one that I have and just put it right next to it.

Also I never completely cut out my hole for the intake, so I'll go do that now and maybe it'll help a little

temps are 81.7 right now, but I guess thats just cuz its early and still cool in my apartment.

If your intake fan is not moving as much air as the exhaust, it's REDUCING efficiency. You'd be better off using BOTH fans in your exhaust and opening the intake to make it passive, while still allowing no light leaks.

I dig the retro stuff big time. My living room is all done up in Tiki Lounge Stylee. It's crap-tacular.

Just wanted to add for the no light leaks... you can get louvered vents from home depot that are perfect for helping to block light leaks from outside the cabinet.

I have alot of authentic Mid Century Modern stuff in my place. Talk about expensive. That stuff really get's pricey, but I love the way it looks. I feel like my house should feel like I'm on vacation when I come inside from a long day at the office. So I spare no expense (within my means) on retro stuff.

It makes me feel warm and happy inside. I think I was born in the wrong era

Just to make sure you mean to turn my intake fan around and use it as exhaust as well as my current exhaust fan? if I do that how big would my intake hole have to be for that to work?

I dig mid c as well, and Danish Modern. I've got a couple lamps and a very sweet daybed, but not enough to do an entire room quite yet. That's coming one of these days. Especially since IKEA knockoffs can fill in the missing pieces until I scavenge some real stuff. My attorney has a SICK collection at his office including some Saarinen pieces... lol... he's kinda hot too. Makes the business at hand less depressing.
You gotta post up pics. All mine is in storage until I finish renovating my house

That's a good question for someone who paid attention in physics class, lol. The key is to minimize how restrictive of air flow it is. You could just lose the active intake fan entirely and see if your temps stay in range with just the hole. The body of the fan itself blocks air flow.

Yeah, i just recently put that active fan in, and originally had a passive intake. If you look right next to my intake fan you see a little patch of black plastic, thats where I covered up my previous passive intake.

So, should I just uncover that hole and keep my intake fan?

Sorry if I'm having trouble understanding this - but I assure you I'm trying to hardest

My camera is sort've on the fritz (I dropped it. I'm horrible with handling digi's. Never let me handle a camera or it'll be it's doom)

I'll get some pic links of what I have and post it up in a thread in cannabis lounge (so we don't whore this guys thread) for you just so you can check out some pieces I've bought over time.

Luckily for me I live in a very "indie" part of town and there are so many thrift shops I can go to. Some of the stuff I've bought is fully restored and some of it was done by me (very shoddily).

I wish my attorney was a hot female. Instead my attorney looks like he could be a stunt double for Gimili from Lord of the rings, but my god he's an amazing lawyer. A good lawyer is worth his weight in gold, unfortunately for me my lawyer is very heavy.

Big changes to the grow box!!

Transplanted the 4 older plants (bubblelicious) to new larger pots, with new soil (a mix that my hydro store makes), and FoxFarm Grow Big 6-4-4. Transplanting was such a pain in the ass, I wish I had just planted in these pots to begin with.

So I gave them 1/2 tsp / gallon at time of transplant, because I have no rooting hormone or superthrive like suggested in the threads I read. Hopefully this is okay. Any thoughts?

Here are some pics about 2 hours after transplant. I coated the top of the soil with perlite for light reflection and moisture control. They seem to be pretty happy for now, except for one of them.

So i came home from work today and noticed that the perlite that I have layering the top of the soil looks like its turning yellowish. Is this normal? Maybe its from the nutes?

I liked the nice clean-white finish it had

you're doing well, stay on top of it ... lay off the nutes for a few days, when you transplant, and don't water as much ... that will encourage the roots to seek out moisture and food, (plus, some nutrients slow rooting, in favor of other needs) ... looks like you keep a nice clean area, too (not like my usual mess) jealousy

It's getting stained from the soil. It's common for perlite to turn yellow, orange, or brown.
