I've just give the plants their first feed of bio grow, the bottle recommends 2-4ml per litre i've gone for 1ml for the first dose, only gave them a little water maybe half a litre between the 5 of them because they're just recovering from my overwatering. I was gonna wait till tomorrow but I want to stop the yellowing before it gets worse. I can't see it being anything else really, just don't remember them wanting feeding so soon in previous grows, hope I've done the right thing we'll see.

Some pics.

Just thought I'd share some more pics with everyone. A couple showing my first attempt at lst and some other random shots I took. All seems ok for now, the yellowing doesn't seem to be getting any worse (couple of the pics show the yellowing) and they seem to be growing pretty quickly at the moment.

How's the lst looking? Any advice?

Looking good, Hudson!

Did you put screws in the side of your pots for anchors? Looks very well done.

Thanks for the comments guys, good to have a bit of reassurance i've done ok with the lst, was kinda worried i'd snap them at first but they're pretty tough and seem to have adjusted to it well.

yeah thats right cede i put some screws in the pots to fix the string to.

hey whisky, started nutes a few days ago at 1/2 the min dose that bio bizz advise and they seem to have really had a burst of growth this week.

I've cut down on watering this week, once every 3 days seems to be doing the job and i'm gonna feed every other watering.

LST is going well, got a few of the lower branches growing well and reaching for the lights, i'm tryna tuck leaves underneath others so they don't block any light to these sites. The main stem that i've bent to grow horizontally is now near the edge of the pot so I was thinking about training it to bend back round on itself in a kind of U shape instead of just keeping growing in a straight line (i hope that makes sense) I'm a little concerned that it may lead to light penetration or mold issues because there'll be dense folliage and buddage with the stem growing back on itself.

What do you guys think?

Oh and I've just booked a hotel in amsterdam for a couple days away with my girlfriend next month so I'm buzzing about that too

3 weeks veg pic udate

Just some pics of the plants after 3 weeks of vegging, really seem to be growing quickly at the moment, the tallest one that hasn't been lst'd yet is around 7 inches and the lower growth on the others main stems is really starting to take off because of the lst. I've tried to show that in the pics but they're not the best shots i've taken. I might try a couple later if the sun comes out so I don't need to use the flash.

The yellowing doesn't seem to be getting any worse so I think I can relax about that. The only small problem is they're still a little droopy especially at the tips, I've cut down on my watering so I think thats ok now, just think because I transplanted a little early the roots are having problems getting to the moist soil at the bottom of the pot. Guess i'm just gonna have to be very careful watering for a little while till the roots catch up with the pots?

Anyway here's the pics.

I get the slight droopiness right before my plants go rootbound. When I was in my starter pots they went a little droopy and as soon as I transplanted them they perked right up - now I'm in 1gal pots and they are like 4-5 weeks old - again getting droopy and now I know its time for a transplant.

Not sure how long ago you transplanted so this might not be relevant to you, just thought i'd share.

btw, plants are looking really nice - I like your LST job. I wish I had started mine like you did.

Vegging for 4 weeks

Just a few pics to show the growth in the last week. The new growth tips are looking good, I've had to tie a couple of them down while others catch up. The yellowing's spreading on a couple of the plants, I think it's a combination of the light not getting to the bottom leaves and me needing to up the nutes (gonna try 2 ml per litre next feed) . I was gonna do a light flush tomorrow, I like to do them roughly every 4 weeks to try and prevent lock outs.

Anyone agree or disagree with my diagnosis? Any comments/advice would be appreciated.

Nice looking plants! i like your LST job it looks very well done...

Should be doing well with your nute schedule, do those pots have quite a bit of soil or no? i cant really tell but if they do theyll do great with room to stretch around in the pots.

Keep up the good work!

Hey bomb, i potted up a little early to the 6 litre pots they're in now so i'm sure they're not getting rootbound yet but thanks for the input i'll keep it in mind when it's time to transplant again.

Yeah 6 litre pots, i didn't fill them right to the top initially coz i was gonna do a layer of clay pebbles on top but with the overwatering early on I didn't bother but i've filled them up with more soil since then.

I'm not overly worried about the yellowing but thought i'd ask and see what others thought incase i'd missed anything, diagnosing plant problems is a weakness for me which i'm working on so until I get there i'll need a bit of help from time to time.

I've had family staying with me for a couple of days and didn't get chance to do the flush yesterday as planned. The yellowing has spread to a couple more leaves and the plants aren't looking so good. I've flushed them and gave them 1ml per litre of bio bizz grow. They're sat in the bath now just drying out a bit before I put them back under the lights.

Any comments/advice? Anyone think I should be doing anything else or i've misdiagnosed nitrogen def/nute lockout?

Here's some pics.

Looking better

They're looking a lot better now, that flush and feed seems to have done the trick, yellowing has stopped Been a lot of growth in the last 2 days.

Hey giro, i've not forgot about the filter question, the leaflet that came with it is in the box that the lights and fan came in and I put that in the loft last week. I'll go dig it out soon, give me a shout if you're in a hurry to get one.

Here's some pics

Alternating nodes

Oh yeah and I've got alternating nodes now on all but one plant. So I think i'm gonna go get some cloning supplies (blades and rooting gel) in the next couple of days, take some cuttings, give the plants a week to recover then flip to 12/12!

Here's pics of the alternating nodes.

I'm a chump!

Well I made a trip to the hydro store to get the cloning supplies, sterile scalpel, root riot starter cubes and clonex rooting gel. While I was there I thought i'd get an oxypot (dwc) too, i've been thinking about trying something other than soil for my next grow so thought i'd get my feet wet with the oxypot. It'll give me a chance to get a feel for a different way of growing and I can still grow a couple plants with soil too incase I screw up the dwc.

Anyway I come home and get the oxypot set up, test the pump, no problems. So then I start on the clones. Get four of the five plants out, (i'm not doing the other one yet as it's lagging behind the others and it's not got anything big enough to take a clone) Find one good branch from each plant, around 4" tall i guess, cut off all but the top leaves, and trim the bottom of the stem about 1/2" under where i've trimmed the bottom leaves from, dip it in clonex and pop it in a cube. All 4 done and in the propagator, misted and under 125 w enviro I decide to relax and roll one up.

So I'm sat there chillin when I realize i've forgotton to label them up Gutted! I've made my best guess to label them now, but I could very well be completely wrong lol Oh well it'll teach me to take my time in future!

On the bright side the clones look quite happy.

been there, done that. also, it's probably a good idea to take 2 cuttings minimum per plant, first cause 1 might die, second, so you can flower one and hold one back to become a momma maybe, or to die if a male.
and good luck with the DWC, my first grow was in dirt and now i'm using DWC for my second and i love it, my plants are WAY bigger than when in dirt and the seeds came from the same source so i know it's the DWC and not different genetics. just make sure you add plenty of air to the res, oh, and if you like the DWC and think you want to use more of it, don't buy small pumps, get a good one at your local hydro store, it will be cheaper in the long run.

Hey thanks for dropping by guys!

Bozo - Yeah you're right I should of taken more clones, out of the 4 clones I took 3 of them look pretty good, just the one of them looks like it might struggle. I'm sure you know what it's like tho, you just wanna get your plants into flower ASAP so you can get some bud, I'll plan better next time. I've also taken my clones a little too soon to flowering, the cutting's I took were one of the top shoots that had developed after my lst, since then i've read that it could affect my yield not giving the plant enough time to heal. I've made a decision to go ahead with flowering as planned anyway because basically i'm short on space. So hears hoping it won't affect yield too much.

Killa - My tent's got metal braces and vents, I think the only difference between the DR and the DR Street is that the street is made from a cheaper material, thinner fabric and the reflective material on the inside isn't the best. Other than that i'm happy with it, just wish i'd got a bigger one now

Cede - Good to see you mate, not seen you around for a while. Yeah I'll keep you all updated on the DWC but i'm not sure when i'll be starting that. I was hoping to put one of the clones in it when it's rooted but I need to get some stuff first, (ph and ec reader) money's a bit tight at present and it might be a better idea to wait till I get back from my trip.

Oh btw even tho i'm still running 18/6 lights there's been quite a bit of stretching going on, I don't think it's anything to worry about but just thought i'd mention it.

Here's some pics I took earlier today.

looking good man

btw, have you considered building yourself a cloner? mine cost me about $12.00 to make, not counting the air pump, and i love it. i put 18 cuttings in 8 days ago and 15 are rooted firmly and ready for transplanting (today) and the other 3 just didn't make it, still, i count that a success! come take a look
anyway, toke amongst yourselves

Hey bozo,

15/18 in 8 days is great, i'd be happy with speed and success like that! No i'd not really thought of building a cloner, tho when i've got this grow running pretty smoothly and i've got a bit of time i'd like to give it a try. Oh yeah and there's the DWC to worry about first too, i'm sure that will take a while to get used to.

I'll come over and take a look at yours later mate, $12 sounds like a bargain!

i went to post some pics of the roots today and noticed that it was May 6th that i started them so it's only been SIX days not 8, wheww, that was fast. oh, and it looks like maybe 2 of the 3 that didn't root might still be ok, so that will be 17 of 18! awesome!
my first grow was in dirt also and i decided to try hydro this time myself. EVERYTHING i'm using is DWC, right down to the bubble cloner, it's basically just a shallow DWC. i have had awesome vegatative growth with it and really good luck too 'cause i have NO meters. i can't check anything but ph right now but, so far, everything is going great.
anyway, i'm about 1 week away from starting to flower for sex, then i will hold back a momma from both strains and start filling my sea of green, 4 clones at a time.

bozo,
peace, love, dope
