Red's First Grow: 100% Gnome Grown

This is my first experiment growing cannabis, X-1 in other words. This is some good bagseed that I hope to make better by doing it indoors and sinsemilla.
At first, you can notice many things not-to-do and I will try to point some of them out as I go along. Feel free to add your opinions whenever you'd like.

These photos are in week 3 of vegetative growth. You can probably tell that these plants are a little behind. Simply not having the proper ph controls and nutrients stunted these plants growth. They had been growing directly under 400w hps light around 36" from plants tops with temperatures around 75(deg.)

Some of the problems I ran into were: sulfur deficiencies, improper pH balance, improper nutrient levels. They were soon to perk up.

Week 3 continued... using sodium bisulfate for pH down is a big no-no. Especially with plants this young. I would suggest not doing so and switching over to a more natural phosphoric acid like what you can find in most hydroponic shops. However, I am prone to using minute amounts of sodium carbonate, or baking soda, when the situation permits.

Switched over from a Age Old Grow mix of 12-6-6 which the helpful person at my shop suggested was a bit too high in nitrogen to a more suitable 3-2-6 Fox Farms Hyroponic solution. Also, you may notice lock out on the lower leaves of the plants from the previous pictures you can tell this has now been adjusted.

Nothing will make your life easier in hydro than stability and it 100% begins with good hydro nutes imo. You'll also have bigger and better plants for it.

Most quality hydro nute have EVERYTHING your plant needs so if you notice some sort of "def" most likely the issue will stem from improper ph. Double, triple check your ph often and do regular res changes to keep your ratios balanced. Consider a good root product like Cannazym or something similar to help with root help. Nothing worse than losing your grow to root rot or something halfway through bloom.

Keep up the good work.

thanks again. man people are so helpful around here. sounds just like just the right time for me to go and get my babies something like that to keep em healthy. I had a problem with light getting into my resevoir, now mostly fixed, so I should look into getting it for them just in case.

more pictures coming later.. tons of them.... any help in getting them the right size?? using photobucket at 640 x 480 or something and Id like to space them out a bit if i could.

fast forward a few days. each set of new leaves takes life. the last pic shows some droopiness on the right. lights set from 24 hours on down to 20. RH is now constant 20%. Now that I think about it Ive havent seen it change since this period. Maybe the thing is stuck. Ill test it here in a bit.

Air is being drawn from below the box right up through the top with a eight-inch fan that came in it already. Maybe bigger. It draws well enough, I just had to take the reflector off the light to get direct airflow over the bulb. Tips of leaves get burnt when they sag down onto the wet nutrient-absorbed Hydroton. This could easily be fixed w/ a cover over the net pots. Due to laziness and wanting to make sure my circulating system is not clogging I have yet to do so. It's probably a really good idea to work something up later.

A new pump was added along with two compact disc sized aerators from the pet supply store down the road. They were tons more reliable than the cheap little bar I found there before and sit nicely under each pot for now. A little different but it did the trick.

These last photos are about 8 days into flowering. I started them at 7 inches having no idea just how big they might get. With only 4 feet of total space only God will know. They are still receiving veg nutes. They get a little restricted from time to time so I've been rotating them around for comfort Eventually the box will be upgraded and more room will be made for the next set of babes to emerge. Hopefully this one turns out alright. And, thanks to everyone for commenting.
