This is my first grow. I will be using one of the Chinese e-bay ufo's a 14w panel and 80w florescent tubes(only on 6 hours a day to hit the rest of the spectrum) the enclosure is covered in Mylar, there is a fan blowing directly on the plants. the soil is miracle grow organic with sand and worm castings in it. the ph is running about 6.7 I'm running 24/7 light for veg with 6 hours of the florescent. So far so good they are about 6 days after germination now (some of the plants first leaves are HUGE). Would post pics but I'm not sure how to or if I can yet. I have 6 plants all from some really good mids seeds. have lots of vertical room for the grow so I will probably let them get quite tall. Oh and all of you who are going to just say led's don't work keep it to yourself because SnSstealth's grow looked pretty good what convinced me to go led.(thx btw) well when I can post pics I will. questions just ask.

First pictures of day 2 of the grow room all the plants were already germinated.

pictures are in my album cant get it to work. any tips on how to post them?

You mean, like this?

It's easy.
For PCs, just right click the album photo, choose copy, return to your post, place the cursor, and hit <control-V>
For the MAC it's even easier.
But I forget, so ask Weedhound or Lolagal.

Don't wanna hijack yer thread with my photos, so come visit my albums.

Can't wait to see if the Hong Kong UFOs are any good at all.
Any chance you can stick a light meter in there for a relative lumens reading?

IMO, from failure to grow, the 14W. "china panels" were worthless.

Do you have a plan to separate the plants when they get bigger or are you gonna grow 4 in the same pot? (This might not work so well, there's a few threads about it

quarter, might I recommend CFLs instead of the tubes? Being that your using the 14w ebay LED, your not gonna get too much power from em. When we (Im whiskeytango that used to post with Db under Snsstealth) used the procyons with the CFLs, we achieved damn near spot on HID comparable. 4 30W or even 23W CFLs would do ya great. at home depot you can get em in 5000k for veg, and 2700k for flower. Hermi yes i will be splitting them here probably in about 2-4 weeks when needed. just keeping them close together because I can keep the ufo closer to them when they are that far apart.

did you see the UFO whiskey? i was thinking about going with a single 100w cfl instead of the tubes but its only 20 more watts. the ufo is the main growing component though, you left that out its 90 watts the 14w is only supplemental along with the florescent.

ah....didnt see the UFO. That makes a world of difference....lol. THought it was just the tube floros and the ebay panel. Happy growing!

Well went in this morning and noticed a ton of these brown/ copper colored flies. So I went to the local grow shop and got some soap. will try it out today some time see how it works. Also got a carbon scrubber "Can" and a "Can fan" for some ventilation and smell control. will install some time soon ill show you the pics once its done. might be a few days have some other things to do.(neither are in pics)

other than the flies every thing seems good.

Well the flies are still there put some more soap on it. any one ever dealt with small brown/ copper colored flies (looks like when mature about size of house fly) or maybe I'm seeing 2 different bugs. they don't seem to care too much about plants seems like they want the soil... any help would be nice if I had a nicer camera I would take a pic.

They look like they are starting to show they are indica to me (just some bag seed) leaves seem very broad.

The damn spray for insects that the grow shop sold me... telling me it wont hurt my plants, and that's what the bottle says. Well now i have yellow spots on my leaves...

ill post pics of it later.

Its called safe soap. Used just as directed and sure enough this morning i have yellow spots that look dead/dieing on some of my leaves. doesn't look like its going to kill them or anything just disappointing to see them like this... oh well lesson learned i guess. oh and the flies still aren't gone any one got any tips that wont do this?

make sure you shake LIGHTLY the excess moisture off your leaves after adding anything, even plain water to em. I would get this stuff at home de pot called organicide. Smells like rotten fish, but it kills gnats, and their larvae that grow and reproduce IN the soil. Mix 1 cup per gallon.

Or any pyrethin spray....again, make SURE to shake off excess moisture on leaves. It acts like a magnifying glass for the light to burn the leaves.

Thx a lot whiskey ill pick some up today... i always shake the plants to get the water and stuff off I put two fingers around the stem and shake i can still see a little bit of residual but i didn't think that was a big deal plus with the fan blowing on them i would figure it would dry it... oh well looking forward to getting the organicide tired of these stupid gnat things.

So I Transplanted all the plants into 2gal pots. upgraded to a 68watt cfl and took the tubes out. Also installed can and canfan. So the flies got really bad turns out the were sarcid flies/fungus gnats whatever you want to call them. so when I was pulling my plants up there were tiny parasites all over the roots. they were the larva of the flies(the only harmful part of them) so i got them off the best I could. Now they are in some new sterile soil and seem to be doing decent so far. hopefully they don't come back or i will have to order some Gnatroll or something like that. 2 of the plants have started some secondary growing. put some fly paper in as well hopefully that will prevent some.

as always you can see lager in the album.

Did you get that organicide? Exactly what that is made for. I see there's no perlite in your mix too. Might have some serious issues without proper drainage.

Got the organicide tried it and 3 days later things seemed worse not saying it made it worse just didn't get any better. Ill probably try it again if I have issues. there is some pearlite in the mix also some sand both I think should do it. don't you? didn't seem to be a ton of pearlite in the soil but there was some.

Plants are looking good 20 days old today I believe. 0ne got under watered (small on in pics)growth stunted and lost a few leaves but looks like it will live. secondary growth is starting and they are starting to grow upward finally.

For larger remember they are in the album.

what I dont understand is why we cant assume this growth is from the floros. what would happen if you only ran that light board on the plants and no floros?

See snsstealths log if u want to see a complete Led grow. The floro isn't on all the time only about 8 hours. the panel also is just supplemental once again The UFO 90w Led up top is the main power. Im looking for good buds not just a proof that led's work think that's been proven. The Cfl is because the research that has been done shows that plants do grow better with full spectrum for at least some of the grow time. (not that they wont grow with the led's alone)

So trying to figure out what to do I'm supposed to go on vacation very end of May. This is about 8.5 weeks into flower from my estimates. Not sure if this is long enough so trying to decide if i should cut veg a week or so short to make sure it has more time to flower. I will be gone for about 4-5 days so any suggestions if I maybe don't have to chop them before i leave or should i just suck it up and Flower them sooner?
