Hello Everyone, So here is my first grow log as well as my first real attempt.
I am growing some random afgani strand from this guy I know. I started them from seeds, 7 out of 8 germinated. 6 of the seeds were decently strong looking so I decided one seed per pot and the last 2 seeds that were not as strong looking I put together in one pot. Needless to say that pot never showed signs of life. So now I am on day 4 of veg, they are looking ok. As this is my first time, I was researching all over the place for information and came across bad info. For the first 1.75 to 2 days I had my lights about a foot away, so they stretched a bit, only an inch or 2. I am using 2 40watt/4100k coolwhite clfs, each putting out 2800 lumens, I then went out and got 3 27watt/6500k Daylight cfls, each putting out 1600 lumens, so for the 5 plants that I have growing there is roughly 10000 lumens of 4100k-6500k light. They have just started to grow their 3rd node, very small still. I am watering every 4-5 days, depending on the weight and they feel of the soil. I am also using 3 different kinds of soil that have the added miracle grow, one is starter soil with all that vermilte and perlite stuff, other was similar, very loose soil, and the third was one that would hold water and disperse it better.

Well Iv attached photos before, at the intro section and Iv looked all over and it seems threw other threads I am able to attach files but for some reason I cannot here. I only have the smilie face, no paper clip. Maybe someone knows why?

"Go in and make photo albums in your profile then right click on image "copy image location" then use the symbol in the posting tools that looks like a sunset and paste the location in there done. good luck. you can do big or small but not really a link from big to small depending on where you take the link from. "(First grow, some pics, etc.)

Well at the moment I have no time to go around posting like a crazy fool so ill take some time later anyways to make an album, that way anyone can check out my plants. They are growing so fast now, its insane, esp with that mix of lights, Im certain they like them. already I can see the 3rd node starting to come threw on all of them. Im so excited lol. Anywho, Ill keep everyone posted and get some pics up here soon. My current avatar is what they looked like yesturday. happy growing everyone.

or else you could just make photo albums on this site and link to them with the insert photo function (as I suggested above)... which you can do regardless of your number of posts.

um... if you follow the directions that I posted you can post pictures regardless of how many posts you have... which is why I said you can do it regardless of how many posts you have, and why I posted it, and how I posted pics on my grow log. But whatever...

thanks fluid, that is interesting, so basically i tie it down so the bottom leaves get more light and grow better so i have more chance of buds all around as apposed to just on top. I am deff going to try that out.

hey, no problem. it helps get the most from your lights. with cfl's it comes in quite handy since they have a low penetration. there's a couple of other types of training too. search around and see what could work for you.

If I may suggest look into LST (Low Stress Training) it might help with having a even canopy. Also you might also want to check out the SOG method. But the little ones are looking nice but keep them lights close. Now for all those Y spiltters you should stop by ur local walmart and get sockets and cords ($1.98 total for both) then put a Y Spiltter in each socket might help keep lights spread evenly.

Oh ya I know what you mean. Remember this is my first grow and Im broke haha.
I found this link on youtube and Iv found every part but those dumb double ended sockets. I even found a really nice lamp cable with a switch and shit, it was awesome.

I planned on doind a double of that under one of those but I cant find them anywhere. It deff would be nice to have a lamp like that plus the cfl clip lamps to surround them. Here are some updates on day 7, Iv got these lamps very very close, the two 2600lumen lamps at 4100k are about an inch or under, the other 3 1600lumen 6500k lamps are about an inch as well, think I could move them closer?

The hole wont really effect anything cause on a previous grow my dog tore to shit a few of my plants and they seemed to grow plus it was pretty much holy (lol) and super cropped once he got done with it. Now for moving your plants close to your lights... USE THIS METHOD: If Its To Hot For You Hand Its To Hot For Your Plant. Thats the rule of thumb i go by with my cfls (and any lights). But for the posting day by day its your log due with it as you will. You never know if in the future someone is doing the same grow as you and they use it as a reffrence; the more detailed the better! just a thought

They are looking so nice, im fricken excited, if I didnt have a job, Id probably just chill in there. Oh and a quick ? as well, is it ok if I burn around my plants?

So I didnt have a chance to update yesturday, I was pretty busy.
Here are some lovely pictures of my babys on day 10.

DSC00163.JPG Surprisingly this plant was my best seed germinated and my best germinated seed to plant until I stabbed 2 holes in the friggen leaves. It now looks like again it still will be the monster as it is way fuller and bigger than the others. I hope its a she. Haha I feel like a father already.

They are growing very fast, I let the soul dry up for about 4-5 days, soil still was moist but not wet at all. I think the best way to grow is to give them a bit less than too much. When the water in the soil evaporates or gets used up for food the soil looses its moisture and the plant goes looking for water. This is a good and bad thing. Too much starvation of water will give you tons of roots and may cause you re pot to early, and obv having too much water will cause root rot or just drown the poor thing. Ive been using about 1.75 cups of water for the smaller plants and about 2-2.5 for the two larger pots im using. Im basing my watering schedule on the number of days and the weight of the plant according to how heavy it felt when watered. I wait 3-4 days and check to see how heavy the pot is, if its very light and i can stick my finger in about 1.5 inches and its dry, its watering time. Next time I am deff going to start in smaller pots so that the roots develop more, these 5 pots I have should last untill the end of week 3, or at least until I notice them getting root bound. Havent juiced them up on anything yet and dont think Im going to until about week 4-5 when I start to flower. The stems are getting really really strong and the fan is deffinitly helping.

I was having some trouble with the temperature tho. Being at the top of my appartment building it gets very humid and hot, which I was unaware of being this is my first place. temps were rocking 86 -87 degrees and this was with an exhaust fan. So I went out and got some air conditioners for the house and they are working like charms, holy crap. 78.5 - 80 degrees, perfect condition. I am very pleased so far and will updat in a day or two.

AC's are the fucking shit. Above my box we have dental air so it blows down directly to my passive intake. Best investment in the AC's on your part!

Ya the AC is working amazing. Once I change the door so I can add a carbon filter Im going to have an intake fan at the top and the filter at the bottom. MMMM cant wait. Im on Day 12 and they are looking amazing, Im starting to have to move the lights a bit cuz they are getting wings. The only thing Im a tad concerned about is on 2 of my plants the leaves are starting to curl upwards a tad and on 3 of them they have 1 small dot like yellowing. I think he dots may be due to water and the lights working like a magnifying glass, but I watered them 3-4 days ago. I checked the soil 15 mins ago and it felt pretty dry about an inch down and the pots feel light like they did before so. I think Ill water them, but today after working im making a watering calender b.c Im almost into week 2 and Im starting to forget lol. But ya here are some pics of day 12 in the morning.
Feel free to let me know what your thoughts are about the little yellow markings.
