Auto White Russian Grow!

Greetings!

I was able to get some Automatic White Russian seeds from Lowlife and will keep you guys posted on progress via this grow log!!! But first, I wanted to tell you guys/gals a little about the cab.

36"x32"x22" (LxWxH) cab painted white on the interior... Space is cut in half for the moment due to an excess of space. The plan is to expand the grow program in the future.

3- 26w CFL 6500k and 2-13w CFL 2700k (will be expanding a few weeks into the grow) looking at ~100w of power consumption for the first week or two and will be at least going to 250w of consumption.

Fox Farm Ocean Forest potting soil and additional perlite

1 gal pots

Currently 90 CFM of fan power and more to come

Four seeds are germinating now and will be potted in small peat pots when they have their tap root!

I will include pics of the cab soon enough

Ok guys so I got some pics!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3391/...c90986e494.jpg

I had 3 seeds pop already(and planted) and another looking to pop tomorrow. Looks like it should be a fun experience....

Oh, and the reason why there is alot of stuff in front of the cab is because of a few light leaks showing on the outside. Where can I get that zipper door stuff that I see people use around here? Or how do I make one?

Thanks for looking!

And so it Begins...

Two of the first three seeds are beginning to show their lovely faces, and the 4th seed has been planted. Lights are at 24/0 schedule and will remain there for a few weeks and then will be dropped to 20/4.

Also have a couple bagseeds germinating for kicks... I wanna make a bonsai

Happy Tokin'!

PS. light leaks have been delt with with weather stripping. Wonderful stuff, really

Temps are startin to scare me a little. I recorded a solid 85F in the cab this morning and its only getting hotter outside (and in). Any cheap suggestions for keeping the air cool? My house AC is targeted for 77F, but I dont know if I can keep that up forever.

Portable AC's seem intereting, or just a regular AC...but I have non-standard windows

Ok, so....here we go

First of all, temp spikes over the weekend prompted me to evaluate my ventilation. I have upgraded the fan to a more powerful, desk fan. Works well.

Second, three plants look like they will recover from the trauma of heat, recorded at over 95F at its high point. Temps are back down to 79-81 with the help of the new outake fan, and the A/C turned on.

Third, the stress of the heat murdered on of the babies... completely dead, no life. Another one was hit pretty hard, and on top of that, I wanted to pack the soil down more on one of them, so I took care of that with extreme care. Lets pray to the Gods that she will make it. Her root system was actually developing nicely, but her leaves were not doing so well.

More pics!!!

The strong one

Last but not least, my Sundew!!!

Watering the babies after the soil shows signs of being a tat dry, which is about 1-2 times a day. Temps at current moment are 79F with a humidity of 40%. Lights are 3 inches away from plants, and consist of 4 27w 6500k and 2 13w 2700k CFLs. Fans are blowing at light level to keep them cool with great success, outtake fans are working at full capacity, moving no less than 150CFM.

Sounds good for them?

Thanks for lookin!

Day 5 and all is well temps are staying...reasonable, and my plants are living, and thriving. I seem to have one that is doing incredible, even through the heat issues. Must have stonger, more resistant genetics than my other two (no to say they arent doing well).

Day 7 and must say growing in the summer sucks when AC isnt really a viable option. No one makes window AC units that fit in horizontal sliding windows for under 250$, and thats alot of money on my budget.

I have two WR surviving, and the bagseed has yet to show its head. The other have died of heat exhaustion. Of the two surviving, one doesnt seem to mind that its over 84F in the cab constantly and is looking super healthy. Does anyone have a cheap, viable option for cooling a cab even by a few degrees? I have recently installed a 9 in exhaust fan and more intakes.

Pics to come soon!

Hi, You can get an Evaporative Cooler at lowes for less then $200 which would work. I use a regular electrical fan in my greenhouse and the temps in the summer here get up to 114-120F and the plants handle it as long as I make sure they don't dry out.

I'm seriously thinking of doing this... removing a window shouldn't be to hard.

Whats the deal with evaporative coolers? Don't you have to throw ice in them? Sounds like a pain, but whatever keeps the temps down, right?

I'm away from the house for a few days, but will have friends keeping a close eye on my baby. I don't expect them to keep up with this log or pics, so I'll just hope for the best.

Hi, I don't know too much about the evaporative coolers I believe you put water in them but I don't know.

We didn't take the window out just opened it all the way and left that way of course you can't close the window with the wood there but it works well a lot better then those real expensive portable a/cs.
