Greenatik's Vertical Cab

I decided to make another thread because the title of my last one was no longer relevant to how I'm growing! Started off scrogging, but for multiple reasons (heat stress, unable to flush, light inefficiency) I decided to build a cabinet and hang the 400 vertical in a cooltube.

I've also switched nutes and coco. The coco I was using (sunleaves) was cheap, inconsistent, and full of salt. I just picked up a bag of Atami bcuzz, and the consistency & texture is superb. Its pre washed, presteamed, and pre buffered with calmag. Stoked to see the improvement

I was using CNS-17 but it seemed to be missing something towards the 2nd half of flower (I think I was suppose to be using CNS Ripe). But, without some kind of schedule, just going off the back of the bottle, I feel lost on how to feed my plants. I am now using Rez's weekly feeding schedule for coco with the GH Flora/koolbloom/floralicious. They look better already and i've only given them one feeding

Right now flowering I have 1 trainwreck bonsai 16 days in, 1 lavender 11 days in, and 1 lavender finishing up 74/85-90 days in.

Whats next:
4-5 Lemon Kush x GDP
1 Leda Uno (maybe, its struggling)
1 ggxbg
1 urkle
couple random bagseed

All these will be put straight into flower as they pop up.

few pictures to get the thread rolling

Lemon Kush. That sounds awesome. As I told you in your other threads, amazing buds. Look forward to seeing how the new grow goes as well.

I'm looking forward to watching your results from the vertical cool tube. I just did that with mine and the temps went down 5 deg pulling that cool air in from down low. I like the idea of the fan blowing in also.

the cooltube was a real lifesaver. I've got an idea whirled up in my head about adding some more light. Going to try and do it 2morrow and post some pics

more light!

650+ watts

Still checking temps... I can easily exchange the 42 watters for smaller cfls and cut the heat dramatically if needed....

update

things are going good. still have my fingers crossed that nothing got pollinated. they are a little mg hungry so I added some mag and upped the sweet a little. the clones I had mentioned earlier that I was getting my hands on, well that fell through. the person went and got them from the bay and they were dead within a few days. so I went to the club today and got two strains. Casey Jones and Purple Wreck. Should be in the flower box in 7-10 days!

It looks like all of your ladies are enjoying the vertical orientation of your light. You've got some serious bud sites on each of them, and you'll have an incredible selection of meds shortly. Those curing buds are making me drool - talk about bag appeal? They've got it.

Glad to find your new log, and I know it will be a sweet ride!

wowzers,

Honestly, I never want to eff with trainwreck again in my life. I'm a big cougher and I hit this pipe packed with some strong as trainwreck and I almost coughed up a lung, and it was a weeny hit too. Phew, that was a chore to smoke that up! However, the up-side to that episode was the incredible body stone I got after that. Thank God for the Planet Earth TV Series is all I have to say!

the trainwreck has sure lived up to its name by the way it grows and smokes. The high is paralyzing but it lets the mind wander free. Thanks for sharing your experience smg

here's a tribute to the wreck. better so far in every way this go around

I am most envious of the shape and productivity of that bush! WOW!

How long is the flowering cycle for trainwreck? Just curious.

And what kind of light did you say you were using?

for the cooltube you can either go two routes (that I know work).

1. search ebay for 'bake-a-round' and you will find a ton of them for under $20 shipped. that tube (what i'm using) will fit 400 or 600 hps but not CMH.

2. something called a 'hurricane' lamp shade. I think you can find them at your local hobby store and maybe walmart. This is cheaper and will fit larger bulbs but needs extra modification to hook up to the ducting because it is flared at the ends

here's a link to a tutorial from zandor on this site using option 1:
DIY Pyrex Bake-A-Round cool tube

I didn't follow procedure and kind of just rigged it together with what I had. I took the mounting brackets that come on the socket (they are used to mount the light to the hood) and bent them to wrap around the edges of the tube. I then used foam weather stripping and placed a ring of that around the glass and brackets. Then I put the ducting over it with a clamp and sealed it all together with some aluminum ducting tape and viola

GA,

Do you tie down your branches to create an wider / more efficient canopy? I love how huge your bushes look. Just wondering if that was your style.

Well... Trainwreck was a bonsai mother that I had been continuously topping since February-ish. Thats why that one is super bushy. Also the vertical lighting and a additive, 'stimul8r,' which produces more nodes and generally less stretch. Lavender was topped about 5 times, trainwreck probably 50+

Also on the lavender pic you can see the middle of the plant - thats light bleaching from the vertical cooltube. I pulled down the nodes to spread out the colas and kind of wrap around the light

A SOG around the light would be the most efficient (yield wise) method for this lighting
