    Ebb/Grow Buckets FF + AN Nutes "Grand Daddy Purple"

    Hey guys! welcome to my first grow log. I have had past experiences in soil but now switching to hydro only because soil is so damn hard to maintain. i hate having to manually flush my plants, mixing soil, and getting rid of the soil! not to mention having to mix the nutes every 2-3 days....... i love the taste of good ol' organic soil grown pot but man its a lot of work. After a few grows i dont ever feel bad about paying high prices for good bud and never try to ask for a better price.....

    STRAIN - Indica/Grand daddy Purple from seed then clone.

    Veg:

    Light Source = HO T5 65k Flouro's
    Style of Hyrdo = C.A.P ebb & grow buckets
    Medium = Hydroton
    Nutrients = Fox Farm "Grow Big and Big Bloom" , cal-mag, root 66.
    water source = 6 Stage RO water system
    Rez. Temps = 68 - 76 F
    pH = 5.8 - 6.3
    Ec = 1.9*
    Water cycles = every 4 hours
    Light Cycle = 20/4
    Room Temp = 72 - 85 F

    * Begenning of week 4 of veg cycle

    Flower:
    I plan on switching nutes to advanced nutrients "Sensi" with conjuntion of using FoxFarm granular powders, only because i plan on using the rest of my ff powders(to damn expensive to get rid of). my hydro guy said i shouldnt have a problem as long as i keep the ppm's in range

    Light Source = 600w hps
    Style of Hyrdo = C.A.P ebb & grow buckets
    Medium = Hydroton
    Nutrients = Advanced Nutrients "Sensi Part A + B" plus ff granular powders
    Rez. Temps = 68 - 76 F
    Room Temp = 72 - 85 F

    my flower stats is only speculative, i havent had hydro yet in my flowering room. Rez. tanks are in the closet. If there is something im missing please let me know because this is my first hydro grow. i want to keep this thread as informatable as much as possible(kinda inspired by divestone). ive seen soo many beautiful grow logs and want to contribute to something i believe in so much. So if you have any input or tips let me know. please no tips from parrots. what i mean by parrots is there are people on this site that have no to little experience with growing and give input by simply remembering what they read rather than experience. i want this thread to go to the right direction for future mmj patients.

    everything looks good. the pH might be a tad high though.

    where did you get grand daddy purp beans? isn't it a clone only strain?

    I have never grown this outdoor cause never done it, but if you growing it check the soil ph often and don't let it get lowered than 5. If your outdoors you can check easily if your in a bucket rather an ground. But still don't take me serious cause I'm a natural indoor-grown guy.

    And shake my ph isn't to high for veg. They actually love around 6.1. My ph range fluctuates high in the begining because when hydro roots thrive it tends to take out lts of nutes causing the ph to constantly rise. If you ph loweres during veg means your getting a fungus or rot problems. I have my flowering hydro plants under 5.3. Oh and yes GDP is only from beans but I got some through bud I got from a dispensary. Musta Hermed but after the first run of beans the finished stuff was great. All fem too

    Hi there I noticed in your 1st post you said that you did not like growing in soil because of mixing ect... The part that confused me was when you said you have to mix nutrients in every 2-3 days, is this needed and what nuts did you use?

    Cheers mate!

    mrfert- my mistake on the typo about the nutes mixing every 2-3 days. it was more like plain ph water one day, then about 2-3 days when it dries out, the next watering regimen would be mixed with foxfarm nutrients (complete 6 part line). every watering time you will always want to water - feed - water, if that makes sence?

    a needed update: anyways havent had a chance to update my log so here goes. since my last pictures i have moved my veg. plants into my flower room and have took a cutting off each before doing so.

    i also made a few changes to my room: Added Co2 tank, Added another hydro set-up. moved my ez-clone in the rez.closet, also added a light mover.

    through those changes i have made a terrible mistake on putting my cloner in my rez.room. i actually raised the cloner above my rez.tanks which i thought would keep the heat away from my tanks while utilizing space. well since heat rises it kept my ez-clone crazy hot. the temps were good at first cause we had a constant cool weather week but then decimated a third of my clones due to heat. and the shitty thing about it is that i bought a water chiller knowing i was going to face a heat wave but the water chiller sent to me was a defect!!!! im still waiting for a damn replacement!!!

    the pictures are just a few visuals. the plants flowering are beginning 4th week @ ph of 5.3 respectively. tank contents are Advanced Nutrients - Sensi A&B bloom, cal-mag, michrozeah(spelling wrong but it is a root inoculant, and FoxFarm beastie blooms powder

    it is a little high but i have been trying to push heavy feeding on them. i have tried 1500ppm but ive noticed my leaves turned a little bit pale. i raised the ppm and the plants are loving it. if your doing good at those ppm levels then i wouldnt change a thing in your grow. every types of nutes work differently too.

    btw thanks guys for the questions!

    hey to answer your question again. your still in veg stage in hydro. then your ppm's are right on. I miss read your comment. i ran those ppm's during the last week of veg then ran my set-up in a higher feeding rate when switching in flowering. still check the manufacturer specs of your nutes. AN 2-part system is correct for this week of feeding. i am actually running it a bit more than the nutrient calculator from AN.

    At this point I think I can honestley rate my nutes. While growing with 6 part ffof soil and 1 part superchunk perlite compaired to hydroton with AN "sensi" nutes combined with ff 3 part granulars came with a slight difference. I have seen smaller buds with more crystals with my current hydro nute set-up. My soil has produced larger buds but new product is more impressive in a conesouire way. Will post update pics later. Even tho my hydro looks very promising the is still a taste/smell test to go

    damn i havent updated this grow log due to being a dad. just havent had enough time to complete it. anyways my gdp was pretty good. right now i have some purple kush flowering and i added a light. i pulled out my old htgs cheapo ballast and hood and installed it. now i cant wait till its done because i want to change that cheap chinese hgts setup cause its a pos. reason why i say that is because the reflector inside got discolored and now my light foot print is uneven. anyways here is a few photos of my current stuff. sorry that i let some of you guys down with this log. oh these are in 5th week of flowering. i have 5 more weeks to go. i kinda hate this purple kush cause its taking longest to finish costing me more in nutes

    Shit, and I clicked this log because I'm growing a Grandaddy purp for my first grow!

    Do you have any advice for a first timer in soil with GDP?

    sweet!! first good advise would be transplanting into pots. dont overshoot the pot size too quick! this plant is a medium stocky plant. if you transplant into huge pots quickly you are prone to over watering and root rot easily. i would always check the soil ph run-off time to time to make sure your roots are in check. also this plant really phattens up and stinks up with molasses. also i found that watering and feeding ph should be around 6.8veg and 6.5flowering. but that you still may want to play around with that too depending on your water quality and run-ff tests, and also what state the genetics are in. and dont skimp on calmag if your using ro water. i noticed this plant LOVES calcium during veg state. i ran this strain 2 times with soil and hydro and i noticed if i gave it ro water with calmag with a 40-50 ppm that the buds got thin and the stalks got weak. this plant is dense and needs a good amount of that to stay strong to support those dense nugs

    cal-mag

    Cig,
    how much cal-mag did you end up using during flowering? For my purple diesel grow the plants did real well around 150-200 ppm for flowering. (ecx500)
    I am just trying to get an idea what other people do?

    when I start with 0ppm I add calmag up to 55 ppm always in flowering. Witha hybreds I usually go with the egressive calmag mix 10ml per gallon. Then add my sensi bloom a+b mix. After the base mixe I. Try to keep my ppm's at 800 for the first 2 weeks depending on strain then work up to 2400 ppm then back down. This seems pretty high but I've been following an's agressive nute schedule and seems to work bomb for me.

    I do the same progression half the strength as you. Strain must have a lot to do with it. The hottest my grow got was around 800.

    During flower i used about the same as you.
    I would start out with tap water(47 ppm), add cal mag until i hit 200 ppm, and then i would add any other nutes,

    i read a sticky about cal mag+, and thats what i based my grow off of.
