Thread: Round 4: Kush Zone (150W HPS CAB)

Yo wuts up everyone, welcome to my 4th grow. I literally just got my first clone for this grow from SFSHC - Afghani Kush

The clone looks OK, I guess. This is my first time growing from clone I figured it would save me a couple weeks of seedling stage.

My box dimensions are 3'Wx1'Dx3.5'H (very small) and in previous grows my yields have been around 2oz from 2-3 plants.

Will be using FoxFarm Grow Big and molasses during veg, still haven't decided what flower nutes I want to use.

I have a 150W HPS hanging from the top inline cooled by a 4" Vortex fan mounted on top (outside) the cab. Temps at canopy level are still in the low 80's so I will need to open another intake hole with some sort of filter that will keep light out (any suggestions?????)

Anyway, thats enough typing for now just check out these pics of my setup and the first clone in this Kush round.

remember when he was still young b4 the beard. lol but yea i like the strain og headband, the clinics here have NY Sour OG kush F1 clones its a double back cross of female sour og kush(sour diesel X og kush) and a male NYC to make the hybrid stable... its a dank purple smoke. its my fav man, but hey have you tried investing like 50 bux on a drip kit, you can JOG(Jungle Of Green full canopy of light to each flowering node) up to 4 plants, cuz chuck man you gotta yeild as much as posible! no offense hydroponics is the way of the future

If you look at my previous grows in my signature you will see that I do LST the plants throughout the entire grow - I HAVE to thanks to my limited vertical space.

Also, I switched to my 110W T5's today. Not digging the HPS for veg on this round.

Clone is not looking happy at all. Going to my coop today to get another Kush variety.

I'll be watching as I'm getting the same hps light (pretty much) soon. Does that light really generate that much heat? Probably a small cab like that would really be affected by temp increase from the hps.

Yeah, I have a 4" Vortex inline cooling it and temps in my cab are about 4-6 deg above room temp. This could be a bit better if I had an additional passive intake hole. Problem with cooling this lamp is in order to inline cool it you need to remove the reflector which is right above the bulb - loosing that direction of light up into the duct. I have not figured out a way around this - and honestly it is a horrible design. I would not recommend that light to anybody.

So I got another clone Thursday. This one is Hindu Kush.

The new growth (tip top of the plant) on the Afghan looks good so I'm really thinking it will pull out of this. The Hindu kush arrived nearly broken off from its root mass (???). Barely hanging on by the skin of its teeth!! . It however looks much better than the Afghan and does appear to be showing new growth.

Guess I'll just hope for the best.


Oh yeah, started feeding Botanicare Pro Grow at seedling dosage.

Hey um i hate to point out things, but that wood in the soil mix can make your grow medium more acidic. try perlite to hold more water than the wood it will be better in the long run, Cuz your Afghan looks like it going though ph shock do you have a tester? get one Ph is crucial cuz on average Cali tap water is like 8.5 in the LA area which is a tad two high it needs treatment the clone looks like it going into a nutrient lock.

but hell a perfect temp, also man your intake light problem can be solved by taking some authentic white reflective plastic (form your local hydroponics dealer) and with a staple gun, staple the plastic one inch from the inside of your cabinet on the top and roll it down since it inside the plants will receive fresh air i hope you can understand my description.

I ordered a Blue Mystic fem seed about a week ago and will be using it in this grow, despite its lack of kush genetics. I really love blueberry strains . Should be arriving any day now...

dude, like i said i've used this soil successfully for all my 3 previous grows.

SERIOUSLY doubt its the soil.

So I got my Blue Mystic seed started as of 10/8. Broke soil yesterday and is looking good today. This seed is in seed starter mix and I may just keep it in this mix for the entire grow, to do a side by side with my other soil which may be causing problems for me.

I tossed the Hindu clone

Sorry havent had any updates in a while. Things were moving pretty slowly but we are now in FULL SWING VEG!!! WOOHOO.

I'm left with my Blue Mystic fem. and the Afghan Kush. I will post pictures in about 10 minutes
