Question To Trim or Not to Trim. . .

. . That is, indeed, the question.

Alright, guys. I need to hear the general consensus of Cannabis.com members.

I have spoken to growers in person, and have gotten mixed answers regarding a certain question.

My plants are growing strong, they are forming new branches at the apex of the branch and stem. Half of the growers I ask say to clip it, it uses too much energy to grow out for no reason. Half say leave it and grow the plant naturally.

What do y'all think?

I was debating this myself. However, I am doing a Scrog, which gave me a couple reasons to trim: First, After I kept tucking leaves underneath my screen, they start to make a layer where moisture can get trapped, air doesn't flow, and light doesn't penetrate. Second, even after trimming the leaves, the bud sites below the screen won't grow nearly as well as the tops on level or above the screen, so no point having the plant waste its energy into developing these buds.

Now that I did the trimming, I cleared up the leaves and new growth underneath the screen. I did leave some large healthy fan leaves, as they were not going to grow much anymore, and they weren't in the way of anything.

So, to conclude with my advice to you: Don't trim unless you have issues with moisture build-up or air flow restrictions due to excess foliage. The new growth tips towards the bottom and interior of your plant will eventually turn into little nugs. These nugs are fine for smoking, but probably won't get you as high as the tops. It's up to you in the end, I don't think either way that these practices will or can ever be proven to be beneficial or detrimental, but from my own research, it better to just let it grow naturally.
