about to take my first clones but I need your help! (pics)
I just got home from school (all As go me
I'm about to take my first clones and I need some help. Right now mom has some RO water with a bit of florakleen taking everything out of her so her babies start off fresh.Mom had about space between her and the light when I left but she seems to just want to grow nonstop! I really dig my new Sunblaze 4 bulb 4' T5 CFL and I'd recommend it to all, got a great price on ebay too. Ok questions: A couple of leaves have curled like the picture, is she ok to clone? Also: where exactly am I taking the clones from on the plant. I've read literature but to be honest I don't learn shit from reading, I learn purely from oral/visual input, if Jorge Cervantes taught Growing 101 and I was at lecture, I'd never have to study, but alas he doesn't. So thanks all for your help, gonna start a log when I take the clones for my first clone grow. Mom is Alaskan Ice, her 4 sisters are about 3 weeks from harvest. |

the leaf tips curling up is more than likely a magnesium deficiency that is being caused by you using RO water.
RO water has no calcium or magnesium micronutrients in it, so you need to add something like CalMag to the water to get those. You may already know that and may already be adding it... but with the given info thats what i suspect. Is there any reason why you are using RO water? I;m assuming your growing in soil, and unless your tap water is very heavily treated by your municipal water workworks you should be fine with it. If you are concerned about chlorine in the tap water it can be easily removed by just letting the water sit in an open container for 24+ hours before giving it to the plants... all of the chlorine will evaporate in that time. If you are concerned with flouride in the water, there are tablets you can get to remove that too. Small mounts of either won't really do any harm though. Anyways... as for if its safe to clone... honestly I don;t know with it having a Mg defiency, personally i'd play it on the safe side and get that problem fixed first. As for what part of the plants to clone - basically you clone using a branch, not a fan leaf. A branch would be any part of the plants that has internodes on it (places where other branches and fan leaves come from). everything else you want to know about cloning is covered here: Clone Log - Cloning with Pics using Master Kush mom...

if you are doing hydro then don't take my guess of Mg deficiency at face value. I mostly only said that because that is a very common mistake for soil growers who think they are doing a good thing by using more expensive RO water when there is no reason to.
It could still be Mg, but I don;t know hydro at all, so you should probably get the opinion of a hydro grower... i'd sugest you fill out the troubleshooting form and post in the plant problems section.

dont know if anyone has answered this yet but yes you can take a clone from the state your plants in. ive had a badly treated mother because i broke an ankle and couldnt care for her so someone else did. anyways the mother got way to salty and the soils buffers broke down causing the soil to be way to acidic for veg state. anyways i had to take cuttings off her to keep those genetics, they were real bad looking and they cloned no problem. as for that suppose to be defieciency, i honestly dont think there is one. maybe just a wind tip burn or somenthign. but your plant looks really great.

I didn't ask for criticism, I asked for help. Do you really have to attack me because I'm a visual learner? I learn from observing, taking notes, and demonstration. Everyone writes where to clone from, takes pictures of the plant, but never bothers to label the picture with an arrow or a circle or anything, so it can make it difficult. Heaven forbid I'd rather double check before making a potentially fatal mistake than just go in slicing.

Here is where I take my clones from. You can see at the top where it has been cut. Then from there I cut the cut end of my cutting at a 45 degree angle. Cannabis Forums Message Boards - Medical Marijuana, Cannabis Club, Dispensary, News
