iono if its just cause im stoned or what, but the end without a endcap the 6-4" reducer part, how do you keep the carbon from spilling out into your ducting and how do you seal the inner screen in the reducer so that you get the most suction through the carbon....?if you could post a pick looking down the reducer that would clear this up for me...thx man

edit, ok looking more closly i can see how you made the seal, but the reducers i get at the depot dont have a lip on the inside were i would clamp the 4" sreen to, do you put in a 4" collar into the reducer to get this lip?

I was wondering this also. I made this so long ago that I forgot. It looks like I put the lip in there because there is tape all around it. I would assume yes i put a lip in the reducer.

Should work very well, remember you can upgrade the sizes to make a bigger filter for a bigger room.

yeah. i'm still curious tho how to stick this in line. It looks like theres a cap on one end, so how would air flow thru?

With a scrubber, generally its at one end or another of the system - you pull air through it or exhaust through it.

This particular type of unit will not work "inline" (ie in the middle of a system) since it pulls (or exhausts) air through the side of the canister

Couldnt you just suck air out of your cool-tube into a vent tube then into the scrubber (or blow through the cool tube, to vent, to scrub)? Thats what I'd do I think. One of these is still in my future, so with a grain of salt.

Nice!

This is awesome.

I think the best way to implement this device into your exhaust would be to have the scrubber, then the inline fan, then the ducting, then the exhaust port.

(Scrubber)(Inline Fan)(Ducting)(Exit Port)

I'm gonna make a few of these!

With a few modifications (making the carbon chamber perpendicular to the airflow and using a solid material as the outer layer) you could make one of these to work "inline." THe filter would lose surface area, however.

Thats exactly how I run mine, but with the light in the middle.. Theres just a 6" exhaust port piped to the roof

(Scrubber)(Inline Fan)(Ducting) (LIGHT) (Exit Port)

If you are really creative and build the grow room to suit, you can get away with 1 fan for intake, exhaust, circulation and light cooling

I just made one of these using Bodom's general guidelines.

Now I just have to go to the store and buy some pantyhose. I'm sure I'll get some weird looks.

so im guessing to use this, hang it up somewhere in your grow room and it eliminates the odor? I was under the impression, you also needed some sort of fan to blow through.

Let me know, my babies are 2 weeks, and i can tell there gonna be stinky (xxtra skunk)

^^Nope, you were right - you need a fan to pull or push the air through the media to remove the odor.

I run one with 10" and 6" caps, and hook it right into a 6" fan. This way it has 2 inches of filter media to pull through on every side, plus its about ~ 3 feet tall. I use kitty litter in mine and no-one can smell a thing

The whole room is vented through it like this (Scrubber)(Inline Fan)(Ducting) (LIGHT) (Exit Port), so its sucking through the filter and blowing de-stinkified air across the light. My friend doesn't air cool his light, so the filter is hanging right above the light fixture connected to a fan blowing out, and sucks heat/stink out from right above the light.

They work awesome, I wouldn't even think of not using a scrubber of some kind in any grow. Even the nice smell of a full room in bloom can get a little old after years

heres a pic of the kitty litter after 4 months in my filter. So change about 3x a year for 6-8$ a change. Way cheaper than carbon and works great

Yeah I'm not looking forward to that either. I think I'll just tell them that it's for a robbery I'm doing later. I'm going to put one of these filters together over the next few days or week in a cab I'm planning out.

I'm going to try out the crystal kitty litter at first. In case I need it, there's a grow shop here that sells activated carbon for $5/lb. Is that too much? It seems like a lot, but maybe that's why Tokudai uses the kitty litter.

doco: I found some at the grocery store, silica gel kitty litter. I've never seen it before, but I've never had a cat so that makes sense. When I get my cool tube and the cab's closed all day it'll be a true test, but so far at night it seems to work.

I just got some pantyhose from the drug store. I didn't think about getting bigger ones, but man it would've been so much easier if I had. I didn't even know they had sizes! Ah well, live and learn. I got a strange look from the dude at the shop buying some nylons and a Twix. You story takes the cake though Tokudai! lol
