Does anyone have any tips on increasing airflow through the scrubber?
I have a 6" 250cfm inline fan hooked up to a cool tube with a 250W HPS in it and my filter at the end. It goes tube -> elbow -> fan -> about 6' of duct -> scrubber at the end. The temps are too high (> 30 C) with the door closed so I have been leaving it open. Now I'm closing the door but have removed the scrubber. I plan on buying a Vortex fan to fix the problem, unless someone here can help me out. So has anyone had this problem before? Any ideas? -canuck ![]() edit: The scrubber is the same size as this one, 4" and 6" and the roughly same length. This means I have 2x 4-6" reducers at the opening of the scrubber which probably inhibits flow. My fan and duct are 6" and that was the only way to fit it without making a giant filter.

I am going to make a grow box when I move into dorm for college. Looks like I am going to be using up all my prepaid meals while saving my "food money" to buy seeds and stuff lol. I better get a 1 room dorm so I can grow... I am also going to be growing shrooms for my friend in a tuberware box.

Good post greAt instructions am in the middle of solving my air and odour requirements and it was a great help. Have a couple of 4" fans by 12vthat i stripped off something a while ago and needed the filter instructions and the kittie litter is gonna be a great saving

This sounds like an awesome device! One quick question....When I do my closet grow next fall, can I have this set up to where the fan sucks the dirty air through the filter, and then exhausts the filtered air back into the closet? I just don't have way to vent to the outside for obvious reasons (heheheh). I can give good enough ventilation and CO2 and such, just no-where for the smelly air to go. I just worry that others in the complex will notice the smell, even with this scrubber... Think it'll get the job done?

you could try to get the big big mama pantyhouse. otherwise just think of something it just has to be small enough holes so as to not let the carbon/kitty litter fall out. you could probably buy some mesh screen that would work also. good luck

I missed something does it just sit in the grow room??? or does it connect to a fan? Would this also help with a poorly ventalated room. I mean can it help in the plants breathing by removing the impuritys, and helping the plant gain more bulk. Another form of Co2 despencer. . .

detials setup in order from roof down. 1-cord to attach it to the roof. 2-A Fan to suck the stinky air and push it threw the activated carbon. 3-the actual carbon filter. hope that helps bud Last edited by JamaicanHerbMan; Apr-30-2007 at 12:17. |

Thanks alot, I only thought it might help because it is collecting what the plant has breathed out, and that could mean that the plant is able to breath fresher air, in a way. . . I am going to try to get one of these made for the Cab that I am putting together. . .

I just built a six-inch scrubber using your plans. I saw the same filter online for $250 - It cost about $25 for the materials to make one. Pretty good savings for about an hour of work.

On the exact filter that you built in the pics and the instructions, what is the rated CFM on it? I know the ones y9ou buy in the store are rated for specific CFMs. What size fan do you have on yours? Have you found that there are any issues when using the same size one for different cfms? i.e: If I use this on a 250 CFM fan, will there be a huge difference if i switch it to a 700cfm fan? Would I need to build a bigger one to accommodate the bigger fan? Also if so do you have stats on the different sizes of the filters with there respective CFM ratings? Sorry if this is to specific, just wondering...

Here what i have for ventillation on my grow cab, i also built the scrubber using the original posters are a template, but modified it abit because im putting a 6" inline fan in the bottom.

I made my filter almost twice as tall and about half and inch thinner as the original posters and the air flows out very easily. There is a pic of it in those links. I also put a bathroom cieling fan in the back and wired a plug cord on it. Fan cost me 39.99 canadian at home depot and moves about 90cfm Last edited by JoeSchmoe; Aug-11-2007 at 04:53. |

So can I use this 4" in line duct fan?
box -> 4" duct fan -> carbon filter? Is that how it works? Would I still have a small fan at the top hole of the grow box to push fresh air in? A pic of the filter attached would be helpful. |

bottom of the filter goes into the box about 3 centimeters so that the mesh wire part is above the box. Remember that you want the filterd air to go outside into your room not back into te box. The inline fan fits directly to the bottom of the box INSIDE the box itself. It is pushing air up through the filter. You can use a 4 inch inline if you want too. You could also use a 5 or 6 inch inline. Just make sure that you have the proper reducer and the needed room to attach it to the bottom of the filter. The model show originally has a 4 inch bottom. Mine has a 6 inch bottom. it all depends on the size of the inline fan you own.
