Question Hybridizing species for heartiness and potency

I'm getting to the point where I need a strain that will grow fast indoors and out, however most of the strains that have today were bred to be babied, literally. Imagine if we treated our bodies like we grow our weed? We would all be healthy as hell!

Take note, I live in Arizona and the Mexican drug cartels grow, package, and distribute a large majority of weed from northern Arizona instead of importing it from Mexico across the boarder. So you see gigantic weed plants here and there and even entire crops. These plants are left to fend for themselves and are so to speak "survivalists".

Since pretty much ALL reg comes from within Arizona, and I'm stocked on these seeds. Now I could just cross breed them with pineapple kush seeds (one of my favorite strains) to produce tons of new hybrid strains (not all seeds will produce the same looking plant).

Now once I find the right plant which must be a female, I'll feminize it to produce F1 strains through rodelization or with colloidal silver.

My only problem is that from here I do not know how to produce regular seeds.

Could I "force" a plant to become a hermaphrodite?

    Any help?

If you have seed from a plant that you only found a few seeds.. Then those would be femmed beans. Make the crosses from them, and back cross them to stabalize. Not sure what you'd end up with though? And far as pheno or geno types. It really depends on what you like as to what you would strive to achieve..

If you hermie? Your females will hermie, too. Those are the beans ya want to be keepin'!

    Thanks for the input.
Really I'm looking for 4 things:
    1. Height
    2. Rapid development
    3. Moderate yield (potency is of the least concern)
    4. Flavor

Hopefully shit goes well when I actually start breeding.

Why would potency not be a concern? That would be exactly why I would even be breeding for a seed stock or particular strain. That was a commercial comment.. It really should matter!!! Just my opinion. So in escense, you want a good tasteing, fast growing, high yeilding, low or no potentcy.. Cause it don't matter, right? High dollar meds...Correct?

What I mean by: "Potency is of least concern" is that I am not breeding it to have ,like, 19% THC concentration, if I can get around 10% I would be happy.

Remember what I'm looking for: Height, rapid development, yield, and flavor
And the strains I'm cross breeding: Arizona reg and pineapple kush

By crossbreeding one plant with another that produces less cannabinoids, you will automatically obtain seeds that produce a plant that will most likely have a cannabinoid concentration between the two (I'm positive you know this shit) So Around... 10%

And no this strain is not for medication, so to speak it could be, you just need to use a little more. This is more like, a strain I would like to sell to those in my area who are beginning to grow. I would be able to teach them many horticultural methods, like stunting: stunting plant development by changing the photo-period, to keep large plants small. And cloning... Its for fun really

Hi, I see you're new to this community, and you have moved to Arizona (I dont know why, the weather sucks!) but congrats!

Before I can answer your question, what do you mean by "my pipes are running dry"

HA-I've been warned about the heat! My wife and I and our kids moved here for a fresh start. I just got my certification last week from a doc in Tempe. I had good connections in Colorado, but don't know anyone in the community (make sense?). Anyway, my wife and I are happy to be somewhere new and look forward to meeting new people.

Lol, and you moved nearing summer.
    Just a couple of tips:
    1. Drink plenty of water (at least a couple of water bottles a day) its super easy to get dehydrated.
    2. Weeds (and not the good kind :P) can be a problem in your yard and garden, so if you grow outdoors, GOOD LUCK.

Heres a good link if you want to get familiar with laws, growing, or just general information for Arizona MMJ.

Do you grow, and what part of Arizona do you live in?

Thanks bro. I used to be an attorney in Colorado, so I think I have the laws out here down. Sucks dispensaries are going to take so long. I'm 36 and never tried to grow plants....not sure now is when I should try to learn given that I can buy from growers sooner if they are qualified patients. I leave that stuff to the experts (like yourself obviously). I am truly fascinated by the aspect of growing from a scientific standpoint, but for now I'm just using what I have left from CO and playing the waiting game on dispensaries.

Yeah, the weeds are wicked out here in Surprise. We are renting a foreclosure home while I look for work and they left it loaded with weeds...two kills later and they are back again! I hear you on the water...it's easy to forget especially for my kids that aren't used to this type of heat. Thanks for hitting me back up. I'm at ttwhelan@aol.com also if you ever want to chat.

Lol, I would not consider myself an "expert" but I'm almost there, thanks for the compliment though.
But you don't need to be scientist, so to speak, if you want to grow your own, you have this community for advice, use it well.
But since you have kids I don't know how that would work out, most kids need a bit of education on what drugs do to the body, from a realistic perspective, before they can have a sense of maturity when it comes to drugs. I'm still a teenager myself however, I'm taking college courses at EMCC and nearing graduation from HS, my maturity came a bit sooner... Unfortunately since I have chron's.

As for the weeds, soak the area to get the soil really loose, and pull the weeds CLEAN out - if you don't, they will come back within days. Spraying is usually bad for the surrounding environment and never really works, but no matter what you will always have weeds. Had to landscape my yard for years so you learn a few things, now I live in an apartment.

Check out this website if you want to start an organic garden, It's good for keeping weeds down and fresh vegies. They even have cat nip seeds, if you have cats? Idk.

If you have questions relating to anything Arizona or hydroponics/horticulture/gardens, just reply, plus I saved your email.

I hear what you are saying...sorry about the Chron's. Are you planning to grow for dispensaries? Are there any chill places around town to get re-stocked?

I keep that shit under control with diet, I haven't had a pain in months (ate some Hot Cheetos a while back, wasn't a good idea eh)

Yes I do want to grow for dispensaries, but since I live in a cramped ass apartment I only have room In my closet and It would just be lowryder strains, which is not bad, but I would have to constantly keep up with the plants since lowryders are ready to harvest within 8 weeks of germination (they literally grow like weeds) and I don't think I have that energy right now, but over the summer should be nice

And no, I don't know any where to get restocked, most of my weed I buy from my friend. Ask around on this site you'll find what you need, just look for medical marijuana Arizona.

Well its tricky but yes ive noticed that if the light cycle on the dark side you interupt the 12 hour with one hour of light for awhile say a week you force the plant to think"something is wronge"the plant in its action to save the spiecies of its self will shoot out a male looking branch to self pollinate!!!! and since the branch was formed by a female with no male genes, thuse create in a seed to be all female"feminized" well hope the info helps "one love from MI"
