hey all im looking for the simplest hydroponics growing system on a small scale for personal what do you recommend ebb and flow or areo or others for a new bee to hydro i got the soil thing down pat but this will be my first run with hydro i own a nutri dip tri meter already thats one step down heres what i found so far that caught my eye whadda you think all adivce really appreciated and can i start seeds in these systems or clones only Worm's Way - Microgarden Worm's Way - Aero Machine

well it would be cheaper to build an aero setup or a DWC setup, or do you have your heart set on buying

ahhhh see now that you can make easy and cheaply, it pretty much a rubbermaid container (size depend on plants) a few air stone in the bottle all hooked up to an air pump....you cut holes in the lip for your net pots...there is direction on how to make these kicking around the fourm i think...ill try to find it for you.

i used a 3gal bucket, with lid. two 3" holes in the lid for baskets i got at wormsway. a tube at the bottom of the bucket to drain back to res. i use a 5gal bucket for a res with a air stone and pump. i pump to a six way splitter i got a wormsway one drippier for each basket(2per bucket). i chained a few of these together. supports 3foot plants easy and one plant per bucket 6foot easy. most of this stuff i got at work so cut down the cost, but still pretty cheap. just an idea, any of these listed here would work great. btw in the baskets i use 1" rockwool cubes with some lava to hold in place. less media = less cost.

Dr. goodbud, everyone has there own personal preferences on which is the cheapest and which is the best. As its been said, simply build your own. I run a 18g 10 plant bubbler that was incredibly easy to put together. the most expensive parts were the air pump(dual manifold, quad output) $60 bucks, and $20 for the 3 1/2in hole saw for cutting holes for my net cup. I didnt use airstones. I made bubble rings out of 1/4in air line. Once i dialed in my strains choice of nutes, all i gotta do is top off with a gallon of distilled water 1x a week and change my res. every two weeks. It really doesnt get much easier than that.

I highly reccommend the Emily's Garden type set up. This is what I started hydro with. It was sooo easy, and the results were incredible for this old soil boy. You really cant beat DWC for ease of operation and fantastic results. You could also easily make these for much less money. I made a few for about $35, but you could get by on even less if you use one air stone and a smaller pump.

JT: city water will not hurt your plants as long as the chlorine is neutralized, the PH is correct and the PPM is not too high, and the tempurature is correct, and it is changed at least every two weeks or more. I don't see any reason for carbon.

If your growing hydro, 6.5 aint what you want. Root rot and nute lockout are on your horizon. At 6.5 your pH is 10x's higher than it should be.

Yes. You want 5.5, but 5.2 to 5.8 will work fine for most varieties. The PH scale is logarythmic.
