My digital ph reader is showing 5.76, but when i tested with litmus paper its showing a deep red, very low, it there any chemicals that could mess the litmus papers reading up? using superthrive, liquid karma, & pure blend, any ideas? is the paper wrong or the digital?

Chances are it's the meter and not the paper.

Do you have cleaning and calibrating solutions for your digital?

I agree with PC....superthrive will REALLY drop the ph of my solutions....I'd trust the paper first as well.

My pH meter is a piece. It goes out of whack by like .5 within 3 days. Definitely get some 7.0 reference solution (usually by the pH related stuff in the store) and calibrate your meter. Also, you should calibrate at least once weekly to make sure you are getting an accurate measurement.

ok heres the deal, i dont have any test solution, but i tested some tap and purified water and some vinegar and the digital show what it should be and matches the lit paper but agian when i put it in the revisor i get the same results as before, and dont want to add a shit load of ph up and kill my plants. so i have no idea

Just as you can't operate a car without motor oil, you can't operate a digital pH meter without cleaning and calibrating solutions.

Liquid Karma is a dark reddish brown. Maybe the LK is affecting the strips in a weird way. Reaper would probably know more about that - I think he's been using strips for a long time.

...Or you could get a liquid test kit for about $8.95 and really drive yourself crazy.

yea but liquid karma is like dark brown and its deluted enough were i dont think its staining the paper

i have no fucking idea whats going on, i used like 50 pieces of lit paper and there all red but if the digital is off, its not 6 points off i tested other shit and its prity accurate maby off like .1 but not 6.0

Your problem is most certainly due to Liquid Karma. You will not be able to rely on paper or even liquid pH testers with even a moderately-colored solution.

You should also definitely calibrate your digital pH tester. My tester doesnt fluctuate more than .1 over the 2 weeks in between calibrations, but I'm lucky in that respect. I've seen that will change over a full point in just 4-5 days... so check it often until you figure yours out.
