Exclamation Bubble Bucket <3

Finally got around to making my own bubble bucket. I used this tutorial . I'll probably be doing a one plant test grow to see how things go. I have two 1'' airstones running on the bottom. I still have a few questions.

When your cleaning out the bucket what do you do with the lid and the plant?
How often should the water be changed?
What are some important things to be on top of when running a bubble bucket plant?

I'll post more questions in this thread as soon I think of some more. I've been browsing a lot of the hydro grows on these forums and I've learned a lot. Since I'll be doing a one plant grow to start off with I'll probably be buying femenized seeds. Anyone have a strain they recommend? Preferrably low in odor.
Here are some of the materials I'll be getting:
150w HPS Light
3-Pack GH nutes
PPM wand
pH test kit
Rockwool cubes
Hydroton clay pebbles

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Ive got folders of tutorials on buckets/dwc that Ive been collecting for over a year. The link in your post is a good one.The only thing I wonder about using the pvc shut off valves is there is no screen on the back end of the plug.I do like the fact that you can go to your local hardware store and pick up almost everything you need to set your buckets up.I was having trouble finding a "bulkhead" fitting that would work with the shut off valve.
I am going to use his idea and put a shut off valve on every tub I set up in my recirculating setup.I like the idea of being able to isolate each individual unit.I also liked his idea on the level indicator.
What size air pump are you using?
Ill be posting something in a few weeks as I start to build my setup.Keep the pics coming.Your bucket looks exactly like the ones in the tutorial.Well done my friend.Take care,be well, and most of all be safe.

Thanks a bunch MVP, I try to search as much as I can, I will definetly try harder.

The construction is preety simple as long as you get the basic idea. I read it over at least 20 times before I started to put it together, just to make sure I know the layout. The instructions he gives are a bit vague so a little common sense goes a long way. Really gotta make sure you get the exact materials he asks you to get. You should be fine. If you're having trouble setting it up you can post in this thread and I'll try my best to help you out.

I'm useing a "Tetra Air Pump" that I picked up at petco. It's a single outlet pump with "up to 20 gallons". I was at the hardware store for at least 2 hours making sure I get my supplies right. Most of the PVC stuff you'll find in one section, the bulkhead fitting your talking about may be a male adaptor, I'm not sure. Can't wait to see your set-up.

I just thought of another question.

What effect would vegging with a HPS have on a plant(s)?

I wouldn't veg with an HPS go get some 6500k cfls from walmart to at least supplement it with some blue light before using an HPS to veg. Also I am wondering which tetra you got? I also use tetra pumps and tried their smaller one on a single plant. As soon as I upgraded to at least a 50 for one plant I saw dramatic growth. The more aerated the water is the better the roots will grow. You can grow with four 25 watt cfl's from walmart per plant easily. I am investing in an 8 lamp t-5 4ft Tek Light, a hydroponics shop near me has them on sale for $409 which is a steal. 432 watts for 40,000 lumens and I can place the light about 4-5 inches from my plants b/c the ballast emits NO heat or noise and are located on the outsides of the fixture.

I vegged with a 400-watt HPS for last couple years, works OK , just introduce the seedling to it gradually, too much, too fast, will harm the little ones ... this time, I used a conversion MH bulb, it also worked well ... didn't see a lot of difference between them, to tell the truth, my plants didn't stretch at all, with either

bubble bucket

the guid to building a bubble bucket is good but mine is a simple method, no need to drill holes or buy plastic pipes

all you need is 1. a bucket minimum 5 ltrs
2. air pump (size depends on bucket capacity)
3. tape (must stop light getting thru)
4. mesh pot 6"
5. clay balls
6. sharp knife
7. 6mm air line
8. air stone

cut a hole in the lids bucket to fit the mesh pot in, then tape the lid and bucket to make them light proof, tape round the mesh pot also. put a small hole in the lid to fit 6mm air line through and seal round airline with tape fill bucket to bottom of mesh pot then add nutrients, put your cutting thats in rockwool into mesh pot with clay balls and switch on.

allow water to drop at least an inch below pot before topping bucket up to allow roots to breath.

i have used this method with a 55ltr bucket two air pumps feeding 3 airstones and have 4 pots in the lid and have seen very pleasing results under a 600 hps lamp in a 1mtr sq grow room in recent years

ps i do not condone the growing of cannabis for sale. this is what annoys the law and leads to mixing with harmeful weight gaining additives like fibre glass etc to rob people of there hard earned cash
