Help kids may be dieing
OK so i have the same 2 widows i posted about ealrier, but now i moved them under a 400w HPS. The one that was thriving now has droopy leaves. also just a bit of light green in the top of the plant. I have them in 7 gallan res.
-Temp= 77 F PPM=1730 - i just got the meter and dont know how to use the information fromit yet. PH= 6.7 -8 drops of superthrive- i think i put 1 extra drop on accident -CO2- i have CO2 on 7 times a day 15 min each time, i will increase whenthey are bigger but i wantto save them for now. PLease tell me what to do to make them start thriving again. Thanks any help would be great. |

Your PH is way too high. You want about 5.3-5.8 for hydro and 5.8-6.3 for soil less. 6.3-6.8 for soil. Don't even bother with superthrive. It's great to help plants out of transplant shock other than that it's one more additive that can just make troubleshooting complicated. How much CO2 do you have in the room before it is evacuated out? The stomata will actually close if there is too much CO2 inside the leaf. This causes photosynthesis to come to a screeching halt as well as your plant growth. What is your resevoir temp? 77 degrees is good ambient air temperature for the plants (this is for your plants.. not resevoir. I'm not sure what the resevoir water should be at.

ST with its high nitrogen shouldn't be used in bloom at all.
I keep my ph (hydro) between 5.5-6.2 and have never had a problem. But Dai is correct that 6.7 is way too high. Is your ppms on 500 or 700 conversion? I would drop the number to 1000ppm if using 700 or 800ppm if using 500 conversion......just add water and make sure to adjust ph AFTER adding anything. I don't use CO2 so have no idea if using it on sick and/or stressed out plants is a good idea or not. If you aren't using a Zyme product i would start.....asap. I have no idea

i did this
Ok i changed the water out completly. now
PH= 6.0- need to go buy more ph down PPM is at 1300- i dont know what type of meter i have its hanna PPM Im not sure what the res temp is but it feels cool on the side of the container. What is a zyme product? Not sure what the CO2 levels are but am only releaseing .7CFH into a small area. 6 times a day 15 min. lots of ventelation so CO2 cant get too high in there. I hope they pull out any other help or advice if appreciated thanks |

saw orange
Just noticed a few orange dots on just a few leaves of the one that was doing well a few days ago. The leaves are not the top ones. Around the orange is a yellowish/light green coloring. Any ideas? Thanks
BTW the coloring is only on the tops of the leaves, the bottom looks normal. Last edited by Magoo2003; Mar-16-2008 at 03:29. |

Consider dropping that number (1300ppm) even more for a few days to ease the stress on the plants. Your dots sound like lockout conditions causing a potassium def but I am certainly not positive without seeing photos etc....
Here is a very good sick plant guide. Give it a look through......great useful info in here. Revised: The Complete Guide To Sick Plants,pH and Pest Troubles - PlanetGanja.com Good luck.

Zyme products....(Cannazym, Sensizym......are products you add to your solutions to assist with keeping the roots healthy and disease free. As your plants get bigger it's very wise to use them in hydro growing to prevent issues.

Hey Mr M, you don't have to replace everythiing....just add water and dilute everything down. That will work fine for you I think..

Pictures
Ok here is pics of what is going on, might help you help me. you can somewhat see the orange dots and yellowing/light greening on the leaves. You can also see how the right plant is very droopy. They are still not doing well. I turned the CO2 off today for now.
PPM= 1200 now i can dilute more if you think i should PH= 6.0 get more PH down tommorow -no superthrive hope the pics help. thanks btw the blue thing is to cover the hole in the res so no light gets in there. Last edited by Magoo2003; Mar-17-2008 at 02:45. |

The photos DO help Mr M....thanks. You know my numbers never go above 1350 during my whole grow and from the looks of your they ARE overnuted and unhappy looking.
There are two things I think you need to do and they are keep your ph in check (between 5.6-6.2) and keep your ppms lower than 1000. I would drop your number from 1200 to 800......you need to give them more water than food at this point. My hydro man usually has me drop the ppm in half (to about 600ppm) if my plants are sick......it will ease the stress and help them recover more quickly.

Reaper is right about moving them away from the lamp ....at least while they are ill....less stress is always better for sick plants...good tip!

they were 3 feet from the 400w, i moved them 4 feet away now. Should i just put them back under a floro? They still dont look good, i will keep hopeing. Got the PPM down to 900 and am going to take it down to 750 or so tonight. thanks for all the help.

No 3 feet from a 400w should be plenty......just take your number down and watch your ph......that's hydro nursing!!
![]() All you can do at this point is lower things and wait.....sometimes they recover from overnute but sometimes not.
