General Fert Q's

I used to do the SOG method, 6 inch square pots. I decided to go back to doing hydro as I still had all the ferts and pumps. I have all my books packed away, and have limited time on the puter these days and haven't found what info I needed in a quickie search. I am doing 5 gallon buckets with general hydro ferts. I am not doing anything as far as connecting the buckets together, and have a small air stone place under the root mass for bubblers. I have the info for the weekly fert plan, but heres my question. So, am I adding the recommended ferts every week, or am I changing the water every week to add the recommended ferts? Its been 8 years or so since my last hydro, so I am a bit rusty. I do have my ppm and ph testers.

I use the same ferts. What I do is make up a batch of nutes - enough to do your flood. Then, just keep it topped off and change it out to new every two weeks. Clean all your stuff real good at this time. If you smell fishy odors coming from anything, wash it in a bleach solution. Keep your eye on the ph during the two week period between nute changes. I find that during the veg state the ph tends to rise and the opposite is true for the flowering phase. These are my observations, yours may differ depending on your water supply. Mine is relatively pure - my little town is aquifer-fed. I have done an experiment whereby I take a ph reading of the nutes going into my pots and another on it's way out. During the veg state I've seen a rise in the ph between the two readings. I find that the ph tends to drop off slightly during the flowering phase. My grow medium is Hydroton and coco coir. Right now I'm in the middle of the flower stage in my current grow. I boosted the Flora-Bloom a little in the nutes and took out the Flora-Grow solution part. I'm adding Monster Bloom this weekend when I change out the nutes.
